Chapter | 2

Melanie's POV
I pulled up to Tati's driveway & parked the car. I got out & I took Aidan out of his car seat. He was half asleep, this usually happens when I take him on a car ride. He gets sleepy.
I tried to slowly wake him up as I grabbed my purse. He started waking up & I grabbed him. We walked up to Tati's door.
Before I could knock, she opened.
"Hi!" Tati said hugging me as tight as I ever felt.
"Hey!" I said smiling.
"I feel like it's been forever. I missed you." Tati said as she pulled back from the hug.
"Yeah, I missed you more." I said as I rubbed Aidan's back.
Tati looked at him.
"Wow, he's really big now. I remember how tiny he was when you gave birth to him." Tati said.
I smiled.
Tati grabbed Aiden's cheek.
"Hi, baby!" Tati said in a playful voice.
Aiden smiled & hid his face.
"Aw! He gets shy." I said with a laugh.
"Ha, well come in. I just ordered Chinese, I know it's your favorite."
We went inside & ate.
I had Aidan on my lap & then Tati took him to feed him.
We ate & played with Aidan for a bit. And we started talking.
"So, how is living with Grayson? Everything okay?" Tati asked.
"Yeah, he's been so responsible. Living with him has brought us closer. We take care of Aidan together. And his parents have helped so much."
"Yeah...speaking of parents. How are yours?" Tati asked.
I paused for a second.
"I don't know." I finally replied.
"What do you mean?" Tati asked confused.
"I haven't spoken to them."
"At all?"
I nodded.
"Since when?" She asked.
"Since...Aidan's birth."
Tati looked at me.
"Why?"
"Um...they didn't like the idea of me keeping Aidan & me staying with Grayson. But they were furious when they found I began living with the both of them."
"What the hell? That's dumb."
"I know! Aidan is my son. And not only is Grayson my boyfriend but he is the father."
"Yeah. But what are you gonna do for graduation? Are they gonna come?"
"I don't know or care."
"Mel, I'm sorry."
"I'm fine. But let's talk about something else. Did you get your prom dress?!" I asked excited.
"Yeah! Let me show you." Tati said as she dragged me with Aidan to her room.
She tried it on & modeled for me.
I was so excited for Tati because prom was something she talked about since we were freshman.
Her dress was a purple, sparkly dress that fit her body perfectly.
I was still not sure what dress I would wear to prom but that was far beyond my concerns.
As Tati undressed & changed back into her clothes, I realized that I should go to Lisa & Sean's house before it gets late.
I said my goodbyes to Tati & hugged her.
I put Aidan in his car seat & drove off to Lisa & Sean's house.

When we got there, Lisa greeted me with a hug.
As I walked in, Sean came out & greeted me as well.
Aidan's face got excited as he saw Sean.
"My little baby! Come here! I missed you!" Sean said as he took Aidan & kissed his cheeks.
Aidan got all happy.
They both went to the living room while Lisa & I went to the kitchen to talk.
"Oh, here are Aidan's toys that he left here the other day." Lisa said handing me his Spider Man & his little teddy bear.
"Thank you so much." I said as I took them & put them in the baby bag.
Lisa offered me some coffee as we sat down on the kitchen table to talk.
"So I've been meaning to speak to you about your parents." Lisa said nervously knowing that this is a touchy subject to us.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Well, your mom called the other day."
"What did she want?" I said sipping on my coffee.
"She uhm, wanted to see Aidan."
I put my mug down on the table.
"Well, she can't. I won't allow it." I said.
"I know & I told her that. But she insisted & begged. She wanted to make this...I don't know...like a plan. She wanted you to drop Aidan off here & she can secretly come to see him."
I was immediately angry.
"How dare she. This is so low of her. It wouldn't be so hard for her to see her grandchild if she wouldn't have been so tough about what happened. I can't do anything about it now & she needs to let it go. I have Aidan now & it's not like she can do anything about it."
Lisa sighed.
"I know. I support you so much. But I can't help but think of how she kept saying that she was disappointed that you decided to keep Aidan."
"I've been perfectly fine with all the decisions I've made since I got in that accident. I have grown so much & I have matured. I have done it without my mom & dad & their threats. I am about to graduate anyways."
"Speaking of graduation, are they coming?"
"I don't know."
Lisa sighed.
She reached my hand.
"I think she should." She said.
I looked at her.
"I think that this bad blood between you guys over you keeping Aidan is ridiculous. You guys need to move on." Lisa added.
I sighed.
Sean walked in with Aidan.
Aidan looked tired, he was ready for his nap.
"I have to go. Thank you for everything." I said to Lisa & Sean as I grabbed Aidan & quickly head to the car to avoid anymore questions about my parents.

I got home & I watched Aidan nap in his crib. I feel so happy with Aidan & having him in my life. I'm glad I didn't give him up for adoption because he is my little boy.
I rubbed my fingers through his curly hair like Grayson had when he was a baby. Aidan had Grayson's eyes & eyebrows & his little jawline.
As I admired Aidan, I thought of my parents.
I want to have a relationship with them because I want them to be a part of Aidan's life. I want them to be at my graduation to support me.
I'll see how it will work out but right now I'm happy. With everything.
