"Where are you going, Steven? (Y/n)?" Connie asked as she saw us packing- catching the gem's attention.
"We're leaving to fix what we did to our home. I told Steven to set Lapis free from the mirror and now it's my fault the ocean's gone." I said, Steven held my hand as Lion walked up to me- placing his head on mine.
"It's my fault too. We're gonna bring the ocean back or get really thirsty trying." Steven joked but held his serious face.
"Wait up, kiddos- I'm coming with you." Dad said, waving his car keys around.
"I want to help too. Also I feel weird being at your house when you guys aren't here." Connie said.
"Clearly we're coming too." Pearl said.
"You're both ungrounded, by the way." Garnet said.
"Whoo-hoo!" Steven and I cheered.
We piled into the van as Steven and Connie got on Lion. Pearl, Dad, Amethyst, and Garnet got inside the van while I took the top. Beginning our drive out to the ocean I rolled my eyes at Mayor Dewey trying to fill the ocean up with a hose and crying. A few minutes into our drive I see Garnet roll out of Dad's van.
Hours into our journey, I slept on the roof of the van while Garnet held me in her lap- like when I was a kid. I had a strange dream; it was dark but I could make out every cloud and I could see the sun, but it didn't burn when I looked at it. The ground was cold and the air was still- I didn't know if I couldn't hear or if it was just that quiet.
"Hello." I gasped and out of insticks I took a fighting stance and looked around me for the voice but I didn't see anyone. It was still just an endless desert around me. Looking back and forth, left and right I froze when I saw a black figure in the distance. "Hello." It repeated.
The voice was deep and smooth, it sent shivers down my spine but made my skin crawl and cold.
"Ah!" I huffed and held my stomach- clenching my skin in my hands, my fingers digging into my skin. Huffing and groaning my hand pulls away from my stomach only to peel my skin off with it. "What the fuc-" I breathed out as I saw clumps of flesh fall onto the ground. Looking down at my stomach my eyes widened when I saw the symbol carved over my belly button.
A diamond.
"AH!" I screamed jumping from my place on Garnet, she gently placed her hands on me- keeping me from falling.
"You okay?" She asked. My eyes darted around until they landed on the giant pillar of water in front of us.
"Yeah- yeah. Nightmare." I said standing from her arms and jumping off the van. "So this is it. Lapis Lazuli is here."
"I don't understand, what does she want with the ocean?" Steven asked.
"Look at this, it's just like a giant aquarium." Connie said as she looked into it. Walking up to the pillar of water she was right- fishes and whales all swam together.
"You shouldn't be here!" Lapis's voice echoed from the water. Grabbing Connie and walking backwards to the group the water formed into Lapis's head.
"Lapis Lazuli, it's us, Steven and (Y/n) Universe!" Steven shouted.
"Go away before I make you." She threatened.
"But we're beach-summer-fun buddies!" Steven shouted. Lapis shook her head and shut her eyes.
"NO!" She screamed. "You're one of them, one of the crystal gems!"
"What do you mean by that?" I asked. Moving Connie behind me and towards Lion. "Just let us help you." I said, reaching out my hand to her.
"You don't understand, just leave me alone." She said, sadness filling her voice.
"We're not leaving, Lapis. Not until you give us back the ocean." Steven said standing next to Lion and Connie.
"I said, 'leave me alone'!" Lapis shouted, the water and ground shook as she formed copies of the gems, Steven, and I.
"Ruh-oh." Amethyst said as she pulled out her whip.
"Stand together." Garnet said, summoning her .
"Don't let them separate us." I was warned. The gems jumped towards me and we formed a wall in front of Steven and Connie. I held my bow high and was ready to fire until I saw my water copy do the same. "Shit." I cursed. My water copy launched an arrow nearly missing me but landed on dad's van. A fight broke out, Lion taking on water Steven, the gems taking on themselves and me fighting myself.
"Oh, no. Not the van!" Dad cried.
"Revenge!" Steven and Connie shouted as they ran towards water Steven and water (Y/n).
"Steven! Connie! NO!" I shouted, grabbing Steven's shirt and blocking Connie's path.
"Is this a normal magical mission for you? 'Cause I'm not so sure how comfortable I am with you going on these anymore-!'' Dad was cut off by being slammed into his van and landing badly on his leg.
"Dad!" I shouted, pushing the kids behind me and aiming my bow- my water copy doing the same thing. But before I could let the sting go out of the corner of my eye I saw Steven aiming a sphere of water at me.
Time froze, if I keep my aim to myself- then there's a chance my arrow could destroy the water arrow, but then Steven and Connie are wide open for the sphere. However… if I aim at the water Steven I'm wide open to water me. I'd only be taking some kind of damage.
Without a second thought I moved my body and aimed at water Steven. Letting my arrow go I land a hit on water Steven- causing him to break into small water droplets. I expected the water arrow to hit me but before it could touch me my ears rang. The loud sound of a giant bell rang out and I turned to see Steven forming a shield to stop the arrow from hitting me. I sighed out in relief as the sound made the water gems and water us deform.
"You okay dad?" I asked him to run and check his leg.
"See? This is why we wear seatbelts, kids." Dad said as he groaned as Steven and I helped him seat up.
"Lapis! I don't want to fight anymore!" Steven said.
"Steven?" I called, wondering why he was walking towards the pillar.
"Lapis, I'm coming up to see you- so please don't drown me." Steven said as he walked right into the water- only to be launched straight up.
"Steven, wait!" I shouted, running to the pillar only to slam right into it. Lapis had blocked me out along with the gems and Connie. Lion yawned and took a seat next to dad.
"What's going on up there?" Pearl asked as she stared up at the pillar- it being so tall that she couldn't make out the top of it.
"I-" Amethyst stopped when a rumbling began.
"It's coming down!" Garnet shouted as she threw dad on top of his van. I grabbed Connie and ran to the van.
"What about Steven?" Connie asked. "Woah!" Another rumble breaks through the seafloor.
"Grab my hand!" Amethyst shouted, reaching out her hand to me- I grabbed it and she pulled us up onto the top of the van just as the water came pouring down. Looking around I see Steven popping out of the water. He grabs onto the side mirror of the van, I reach down and grab his arm- pulling him up.
"You okay?" I asked, Steven nods and coughs up some water but other than that- he was fine.
Beach city had gotten its ocean back and the locals cheered once the ocean filled back up. Dad worried about his now broken van once we got back to our house. I walked over to Steven and stared at the ocean like he was.
"So, Lapis?" I asked without asking.
"She went back home." Steven sighed. Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst came up next to us and shared the view.
"What does that mean for us?" Amethyst asked.
"We wait and see." Garnet said.
