C H A P T E R 42

"You know what the fun part is ?" He chuckled coldly. "You'll be there to witness everything. And you won't be able to do anything about it."

I looked at the coldness in his eyes, there was no sign of doubt, he looked determined to keep his words. And only I know what happens when he vows to do something. And right now ? It was to avenge himself, and destroy my life.

He broke our eye contact and walked passed me. "Ohh.. before I forget." He said as he came back to face me. He put his hand inside the pocket of his pants and took out a white envelope.

"You forgot these." He handed me the envelope. I folded my arms as looked at the envelope and back at him without taking it. He shrugged as he threw the envelope on the table. He walked past me and got out, leaving me alone inside the office.

What the heck just happened ?

I sighed as I took the envelope, opened it and looked at what was inside. You've got to be kidding me.

"Wow." Was all Max and Maddie could manage to say after I explained everything that happened to them.

I looked at their dumbfounded expression, eyes wide open, eyebrows raised and jaws dropped open. I would laugh at how funny they looked, but I was also still in shock myself. I'll laugh another day. Just like them, I was still processing everything that happened today.

"Mayville's top agent turns into a Mafia leader." Max finally said. "This all sounds like a plot from some drama series or something."
you're not the only one Max, I thought the same thing.

"And he's out to get revenge on the girl who broke his heart." Maddie added. "This is some spicy shit."

"And what did you say after he threatened you ?" Max asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

"You didn't say anything ?"

I nodded my head. "How the hell was I supposed to think of a comeback while my mind was still processing the shock of seeing him ?"

"Wow, that's even more shocking. Blue was threatened and she said nothing, you?" Maddie said as she poured Max and I juice, gave it to us and went back to fetch hers from the kitchen. She joined the both of us in her sitting room, sitting on the couch next to me .

"You guys should've seen how cold he looked." I pulled both my knees and rested my chin on top of them. "It's like he's not the same person anymore. He looked like this ruthless, unforgiving, cold-hearted, arrogant, egotistical, uncaring person with no emotions or feelings or.."

I closed my eyes as I tried to steady my breath. This is all my fault, Kenny became this person because of me. The loving, caring, honest, helpful, kind, virtuous and morally good man that he was, is gone, and it's all my fault.

"Wow. This is just..."

"You know what the funny part is ?" I rhetorically asked them. "Today wasn't the first time I met with after five years."

"Wha-"

I interrupted Max with a chuckle. "He's the man I fucked last night."

"What ?!" They both asked astonished.

"Blue are you sure it's him?" Max asked with his eyebrows raised. "Did Kenny tell you it was him ?"

"He didn't need to." I replied as I showed them the white envelope. Maddie took the envelope from my hands and opened it, taking out what was inside.

"A red lace underwear? What's that got to do with anything ?" She asked confusedly.

"Yeah, why would he give it to you?" Max narrowed his eyes.

"Because it's mine." I replied, taking the envelope from Maddie and throwing it in my bag. "It's my red lace underwear that I wore last night."

"Wow." Max shaked his head. "You finally decide to move on from him, you get a guy that gives you mindblowing sex, even if it's just for one night. Then you find out it was him... Wow."

"Yeah." I chuckled. "Wild."

We heard the door bell and Max stood up taking money from his wallet and went to answer the pizza delivery guy.

"Are you gonna tell Kenny ?" Maddie asked me the question I've been avoiding to ask myself ever since I saw him.

"Tell him what ?" I played dumb, knowing very well what she was talking about.

"Blue!"

"Maddie." I replied looking at her.

"He deserves to know, they deserve to know."

"It isn't your choice to make."

"You're right,it isn't." She shaked her head. "But it's the right thing to do, and you know that. But like always, you'll do what benefits you.. even at the expense of other people's feelings."

"Can you please stay out of my busn-"

I stopped talking when Max showed up, holding the pizza in hand. He must've noticed the tension between Maddie and I who were just staring at each because he asked us if, everything was fine.

"Yeah." Maddie replied. "Blue's just being selfish, as always."

"And Maddie's just being annoying, as always." I replied staring at Maddie. "Know your place, and stay out of my business. Somethings just don't concern you."

Max's jaw dropped. "What the hell just happened? I was out for two minutes... What are you guys fighting about?"

"Nothing... It's pretty late now." I took my bag and car keys. "... So I'm just gonna go home."
