The Lying Game

Gabby POV:

Alia : It looks like Lahai's not with them? (turning to look back at us with her head cocked to the side)

Ciera: Alia what in the world are you talking about???

Alia: I'm talking about how he's not with the guys like he usually is.

Gabby: Interesting.....I wonder why.

Ciera looked up at me from her notebooks, in suspicion of my comment.

Ciera: I know that look, you're up to something. (squinting her eyes at me)

Gabby: ha ha ha..ha (laughing awkwardly) maybe.

I quickly slip on my sandals and run out of the room without giving the two girls a clue.

Ciera POV:

Why would Gabby run out of the room all sudden like that.

Ciera: Well I guess it just me and you kid.

Alia: (ignoring what Ciera said) LOOK! Gabby is talking to the boys!

Alia has her finger on the glass pointing out into the distance at the group of boys with Gabby standing across from them.

Ciera: what is she doing though??

Alia: begging for forgiveness....

*both breakout in laughter*

Ciera: GABBY??? BEGGING?? (trying to catch her breath)

Alia: (laughing) I know, it's very unlikely that she is doing that.

Gabby POV:

Gabby: why isn't he with yall?

Daniel: he actually left the program...

Ray : He didn't feel comfortable being here anymore.

I felt the sadness in the boys voice, I could tell they missed Lahai and they seemed like they were confused.

Chris: why did you punch our boy?

Gabby: long story...... he's not who yall think he is, I'll tell you that.

Daniel : What do you mean?

Gabby : I mean, there’s like another side to him.

The worst thing  that could happen is the boys thinking I’m a liar and not wanting to talk to me or any of the girls ever. Should I be sensitive about how I say it. But they’re boys, they can handle it.

Jaden : Just say it.

Gabby: I am not lying when I say this, but uhmmmmm, Lahai raped Ciera.

Chris: really.

Gabby: YES! I lie to you not.

The boys had blank expressions on their faces, not really sure of how to feel or think. They could not believe one of their own had done this.

Jacob : how do we know this is really true?

Jacob had not said one thing until now. Had not even given me eye contact the whole time. I totally forgot he was even there until he said something. Because I felt like he was ignoring me.

Gabby : Why would I lie about something like rape? You think I’m joking. (getting closer to him, making serious and direct eye contact).

Jacob: ............... ( looking at me with a blank expression as well).

Gabby: You know what, I am done here. I tried to explain to yall why I did what I did. But yall don’t seem to appreciate honesty (looking directly at jacob). Believe what yall want. But what do I know, yall probably are all just like Lahai. (starting to walk back towards the dorm)

Jacob POV:

when Gabby enters the dorm, the boys are turn around and glare at me .

Chris: Damn Jake, what is your problem.

Jaden : Now she probably going to tell all the girls we are “liars” . (shoving him)

Daniel : yea, why do you think she’s lying. Did you have a legit reason for saying that?

Jacob : (shrugs shoulders) I just wasn’t thinking.

Ciera POV

Alia and I stare at the door anticipating Gabby’s arrival.

Alia: I wonder what’s taking her so long.

Ciera: She probably taking her time, preparing what she is going to tell us. She likes doing that.

*door creaks open, slowly*

Alia : GABBY !! what they say (grinning)

Gabby : well on the positive side, Lahai no longer attends the program.

Ciera : WOOOOO SAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alia : YOU GOT YOUR WISH !!!! (hugging Ciera)

Gabby : but what?

Their happy dance and joyful moment ends as my voice lowers.

Gabby : Jacob thinks I am liar.

Ciera : (confused) lying about what?

Gabby : you getting raped...... (head lowered)

Gabby begins to walking out the door, and closes it behind her.

Gabby POV

I walk into my room and lie down on my bed. It’s not long until uninvited company shows up.

“How dare you talk to boys without me!”

I roll over to face the door and there’s Sha’nhye standing there with her arms touching both sides of the frame.

Gabby: oh it’s you. (rolling over to face the window)

Sha’nhye : seriously, let’s talk what’s going on. Is it boy problems. (she takes a seat on the edge of my bed, looking down at me).

Gabby : .......... something like that. (mumbling into the bed covers).

Sha’nhye: well if it makes you feel better, Daniel and I have less in common than I thought we did. We’re more of opposites...like complete incompatible opposites.

Gabby: what the hell are you talking about? (lifting her head up in confusion)

Sha’nhye : it’s not working out between us, basically.

Gabby: well that is a surprise.

Sha’nhye : well you know me, being picky and what not.

Gabby : yup.......

Sha’nhye : well seeing that you do not want to talk about your problems, I’ll just be leaving. But you can always come by and talk to me.  

She exits the room. I sit there lying in bed, dreading of having to serve breakfast tomorrow morning.
