Alam niyang may nag-iba pagkatapos nang mga sinabi niya noong birthday ni Lana, and he didn't want to push Eleanor further away from him because he was becoming too clingy.
Napangiwi siya ng muling maalala ang nangyari nung araw na iyon.
"Yes. I was talking about you, Eleanor Kai Gonzales." He didn't even recognize his own voice when he said it. Pero wala na siyang pakealam. The only thing in his mind was how would Eleanor take it. Kaya mariin siyang nakatingin dito at inantay ang magiging reaction nito.
Naalala niya ang pangatlong Law sa Newton's Law of Motion which says:
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Pakiramdam niya ay dumoble pa ang kaba niya dahil sa naalala niya, but he tried to calm himself. He tried to appear like he was still cool and relaxed when the real thing was, he's close to hyperventilating from so much emotions.
Narinig niya ang paghinga ni Eleanor ng malalim. Nakangiwi ito at parang nawindang at nawala sa sarili.
"Seryoso ka?" Eleanor was frantically anxious. He didn't know what to feel when she asked that. Pakiramdam niya ay hindi siya nito pinaniniwalaan. Eleanor should know by now that he's serious. Dahil hindi naman siya yung tipo ng lalaki na magbibiro sa mga ganitong bagay.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Balik niya dito. Napapikit ng mariin si Eleanor at napasabunot sa buhok dahilan para magulo ang pagkaka-ayos nito.
Great, he thinks. She's going crazy just as I am.
Eleanor began pacing on the veranda. Palakad-lakad lang ito sa harapan niya na parang hindi na mapakali. Nakaramdam siya ng panic. Was he on the right timing? Baka masyado siyang nagpadalos-dalos. Would Eleanor ignore him now?
"Eleanor..." Tawag niya dito. Napatunghay ito sa kanya at mas lalo siyang kinabahan ng binigyan siya nito ng matalim na titig. He almost cowered under her gaze.
"The fuck, babe. Why would you drop a bombshell like that eh ang lapit na ng finals ko!" She exclaimed. She already stopped pacing, and she was just looking at him. He knew she was irritated.
But he felt a small sense of happiness inside him. She called him babe. Maybe that's a good sign, right?
"Tell me, Eleanor... Do you hate me now?" Tanong niya. He should know the truth. Para alam niya agad kung saan siya lulugar.
Right now, Eleanor can either make him or break him. But whatever her decision is, he can no longer change the fact that he's in love with her.
