The Search

˝Here you go.˝ Sehun's hand held a cup full of steamy black coffee. It was Kai's favorite kind of coffee and being his Beta and his best friend Sehun knew that.

˝Drink this, it will make you feel better. ˝ He added and placed the cup near Kai's head that was currently resting on the table.˝This one is really strong, it could wake up the dead, and since you look like a dead person I thought you needed one.˝

Kai slowly shifted on his seat and looked up . He looked like he hasn't slept for days, eyes red , with huge black circles around them. And in all sincerity he didn't sleep. Not ever since he saw that truck pass him by taking someone so important to him with it.

˝Thank you .˝ he managed with a hoarse voice.

When Sehun saw his friends face he was a little shocked. He knew Kai was having a hard time but it was really taking his toll on him.

˝Man you should really get some sleep,˝ he added looking at his friends disheveled state ˝A shave and a bath wouldn't hurt you either.˝

˝Thank you for always being so thoughtful.˝ Kai grimaced, 'I feel like crap.˝

˝Well even though you feel like crap you shouldn't't really try to look like one.˝ Sehun retorted

Kai waved his hand at that not really interested as to what the Beta had to say about his appearance. It was Oh Sehun after all. He felt like his friend would probably take it as his mission to look good even if he was on his death bed.

˝Kai, do you think I should wear the black or the grey suit? ˝he imagined Sehun would ask . He smiled at the thought.

˝What are you smiling at? ˝ Sehun asked ˝Are you imagining me naked? ˝ he wiggled his eyebrows playfully.

˝Oh please shut up. ¨Kai laughed at his best friend. Sehun was probably the only person in Kai's life that could make him laugh even when he was at his worst.

Sehun on the other hand was happy he could cheer him up, even if it's for a little while. He hated seeing Kai like this, lonely and broken. But Kai has always been a bit lonely and Sehun was the only one who knew about it in their pack.

Even though the pack was close and they were a family others couldn't even imagine how Kai felt. If Kai was unreachable and down Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Suho would just mark it as one of his bad days, they thought it wouldn't last long, and it never did. Only no one accept Sehun noticed how his smiles and jokes at those moments were forced. And it pained him.

It wasn't like Kai didn't love his pack, that he was not happy with them, it was just that he felt like something was missing. Like a big part of who he is was not there. Like he wasn't whole. He tried to explain it to Sehun once. He told him that he feels like a half of a person , a half of a leader and sometimes he questioned his leadership because of it.

Sehun on the other hand didn't have that problem because he could always find himself a person to play with. But it was only that. Play. It distracted him, so he couldn't really complain. If he was going to be honest with himself , he was afraid. He didn't want to feel lonely like Kai did. He was afraid of that feeling.

˝Is there any update?˝ Kai asked bringing Sehun back from his thoughts.

Sehun came closer to the table and sat on the opposite side of him, sipping his own coffee. He knew what Kai was referring to so he didn't want to stall too long even though Kai might not like the answer.

˝If you are asking about the truck, and I bet you are, then I am sorry but we still don't have any new information. Actually no information at all would be more correct.˝ he said ˝We searched the databases to try and find a match to that half of a license plate you were able to see but there are more than thirty trucks with a license plate that starts like that.˝ He looked at his friends face and he saw how his expression changed into a pained one so he quickly added ˝But we will do our best to find the truck. Even if we have to search for every single one of them. It would just take us some time to do that. Chanyeol and Baek are already going through the list.˝
