CH2.lightning and thunder

You were suddenly brought out of your thoughts when you heard the unmistakable sound of the rarest dragon berk has ever seen,"NIGHTFURY!"you heard the villagers shout as you and hiccup both looked out the workshop window seeing a tower get shot down accompanyed by a purple tinted explosion,you squinted your eyes before another blast went off,knocking down another tower.

You both leaned back as hiccup went further into the workshop,"man the fort hiccup,(name),they need me out there"he said switching out his hook for an axe and heading for the door,he stopped momentarily at the doorway turning around,"stay.put.there"he pointed to hiccup before giving you a firm nod,you gave him one back.
Hiccup looked a little dazed,"you know what I mean"is all he said before he ran in to the madness yelling like a maniac.

Hiccup then looked at you with a look that was silently telling you that there was no way in vallhala he was going to stay in the damn workshop,
"hiccup,no",you grabbed his upper arm before he could run off and he groaned,"pleas,(name) I can shoot it down and maybe even kill it!,this might be my chance to finally fit in!"he looked at you with desperation,your grip faltered.he looked at you with such a heart wrenching expression,you sighed and gave in,looking at him with sympathy"fine but I'm coming with you.j-just so you dont get killed",he smiled at you and nodded as he took you by the arm.

You ran behind him as he navigated through the busy town,"your navigation is terrible!"you remarked as you had to make many sharp turns to keep up with his recklessness"yea,I know-,just keep up!".

You both got up to a peak as he slammed the invention down,opening things and doing more stuff that you couldnt understand nor keep up with,he looked into the sky with a determined face as you sat on the ground not to far away.
"Cmon,give me something to shoot at,give me something to shoot at"you heard him mumble and smiled at his determination,once he got his mind on something he was dead set on doing it,you could hear distant sounds of dragon roars and yelling.

Then you heard the same sound as before when you were in the workshop,you immediately looked to the sky,the dragon shot again at the tower infront of you both,hiccup aimed quickly before firing,the force of it was so much it sent hiccup flinging backwards,your instincts kicked in and you grabbed him before he hit the ground,softening his fall, you both got up and looked up hearing the screech that followed seeing a dark silhouette fall to the forest.

You couldnt help the smile that crept across your face as his excitement spiked,"oh,I hit it.yes,I hit it!"he shook you excitedly,throwing his arms up"did anybody else see that?"you scoffed before hearing a growl from behind you,followed by a loud crunch which was presumably hiccups invention,you both turned around coming face to face with a monstrous nightmare and your face paled"except for you".the dragon lifted its head up, hiccup pulled your arm as you both ran screaming for your lives as the dragon snapped its jaws at you both.

Hiccup tripped at one point and you quickly tugged him up again hearing the dragon spew more lava behind you,hiccup pulled you behind a post both of you holding your breath,fire poured out from the sides both of you screamed as hiccup pulled you closer making sure you both didnt get burnt,you look to the side of the post.being blissfully unaware that it was right next to you.

Stoic quickly swoops in,you both hadnt been paying attention and the monstrous nightmare had snuck the opposite way,if it wasnt for your father youd both be charcoal right now.
The dragon tried firing again but it was out as the fire didnt get anywhere near him,it then seemed to realised how fucked it was as stoic charged at it.

Stoic punched it multiple times before it flew off.the bottom of the post you were behind gave out turning to ash as the unburnt parts of it crushed it before falling,revealing yourself and hiccup standing behind it.the post toppled over with the top detaching itself and rolling whilst still on fire,hearing crashes and yells,you cringed and dug your nails into you palms,"sorry,dad/father"you and hiccup said in unison,not daring to look at stoics face.

To rub salt into the wound a flock of dragons flew in your feild of view carrying cattle,baskets,and nets amongst other things,"ok,but I hit a nightfury"you glared at hiccup silently telling him to shut up before you both got grabbed by the collar,you both started to talk trying to defend yourself, "I tried stopping him I really did,you know hiccup.."you trailed off,your argument was weaker and quiet,due to the shame and guilt you felt,you decided to just give up the argument as the damage was already done.

"Its not like the last few times dad!,I mean I really actually hit it!,you guys were busy and I had a very clear shot-"you stopped listening half way through as you saw gobber give you a bewilder look."STOP!"stoic yelled,you jumped slightly and you and hiccup looked at him"just!-stop,everytime you step outside,disaster follows.can you not see that I have bigger problems?.winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed!".

"Between you and me the village could do with a little less feeding.dont ya think?"hiccup remarked,you couldnt help but snort at the remark.

"This isnt a joke hiccup!"he glared at you still for laughing before he groaned"why cant you follow the simplest orders?""I cant stop myself!,I see a dragon and I have to just kill it,you know,its who I am dad"you could tell what he was doing,he was trying to prove himself,stoic once again sighs as his put his hand to his face exasperatedly,"oh,your many things hiccup.but a dragon killer is not one of them."he shakes his head dismissively before turning to you.

"And you should have stopped him,I gave you simple orders and you cant even do them.are you trying to get yourself killed?"he sighed,you furrowed your brows and bit your lip,"go back to the house you two"he then turns to gobber"make sure they get there"gobber hits you both on the head before you start to walk away"i have this mess to clean up"was the last thing you heard stoic say before he walked off,you let out a sigh and looked down in shame,maybe you should have just stopped him,you walked past the other kids as they mocked you both,many of them mainly directed towards hiccup,you ignored most of their remarks,the forest to the side of the village was looking very nice right now.

You didnt realise how quiet it was and how much you had zoned out till hiccup spoke up,"I really did hit one"you look up to see hiccup talking to gobber,"sure hiccup"gobber says dismissively"he never listens-""it runs in the family""when he does,its with this disappointed scowl,like someone skimped on the meat in his sandwich.excuse me barmaid I'm afraid you've bought me the wrong offspring.i ordered an extra large boy with beefy arms!,extra guts and glory on the side,this here.this is a talking fish bone",you decide to join in your brothers mimicking putting on a deep stoic voice like hiccup did,"and this lass here,shes not heroic enough,if I cant put her in the battlefield she is of no use,cant save her own brother and certainly cant kill a dragon"hiccup looks at you with recognition whilst gobber only tries to calm down your tangents ,"your thinking about this all wrong,its not so much what you look like,its what's inside that he cant stand."gobber attempts to comfort hiccup and you if you can even call it that,"that's worse"you say "thank you for summing that up"hiccup sighs turning to the door,"look the point is,stop trying so hard to be something your not""i just want to be one of you guys"hiccup retorts and you nod.

You only wanted to be accepted,to be seen as worthy to be the chief daughter.you both went inside and the door slammed shut,hiccup took your hand as he ran through the house before opening the back door,"wh-what are you doing?!""we're going to find that nightfury"he looks at you determined and you smile mischievously at him,before making a brake for the forest.
