ALICIA and Jace got back to the house a little later that day.

They were both laughing when they entered the house.

Skyler looked over and rolled her eyes, then looked back at the TV.

"You're home! I missed you!" Lily Rose exclaimed and hugged Alicia.

"Hey, Lils." Alicia smiled and hugged back

Lily Rose pulled away and smirked. "So. How was your date?"

"It wasn't a date..." Alicia trailed off.

"It was a date." Jace whispered.

Alicia smiled to herself. "Okay it was a date."

"That's just so awesome." Skyler muttered.

They all looked over at her.

"You good, Sky?" Alicia asked.

"Yeah, I'm good." She lied. "I'm gonna go get ready for tonight."

"Okay."

She turned the TV off, then went upstairs.

"Anyway, I had fun today, let's do it again sometime." Alicia said to Jace.

"I am definitely down for that." Jace replied.

"Cool."

She then gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Alright, I'm gonna go get ready too. See y'all soon." Alicia smiled, then skipped upstairs.

When she got up there, she saw Joe exiting the bathroom with just a towel. She looked him up and down with her mouth hanging ajar.

His eyes went wide when he noticed her. "Oh, hey."

"Hey."

"I didn't know anyone was up here. Or that you were back home." He said.

"Oh. Yeah. I'm back. Home. Here." Alicia replied.

"Yeah, I can—I can see that." He nodded.

Alicia nodded back.

They were silent for a moment.

"So, um how was the gym, gym rat?" Alicia spoke up.

"It was good. Ja'Marr came so that was...interesting." He answered.

"Anything with Ja'Marr is interesting. But I bet y'all killed the workout like always." Alicia replied.

"Of course we did, when do we not kill the workout." Joe rolled his eyes, playfully.

Alicia gave him a goofy grin.

"Well, why don't you go get dressed, towel boy." She said.

"I will."

He began walking away, and Alicia didn't know what possessed her to do it, but she slapped him in the butt.

He turned around. "Whoa, Alicia Johnson! That is not very nice!"

Alicia smiled. She was relieved that he took it as a joke, the way she wanted him too.

"Good." She replied.

He chuckled, then turned around and went back to his room.

Alicia giggled and went back to her room as well.

That moment with Joe outweighed her day with Jace, and she knew that, but she would never admit it.

She liked Joe, but she knew that he'd never be with her because they're best friends and best friends don't date.

Or do they?
