Chapter 5 - Pins, Beetles, And Badges

I look down at my uneven nails as I wait for Joshua to show up.

I quickly look up as I feel the chair vibrate as it moves across the floor.

"Hey, sorry I needed to pick up a few books that I completely forgot I ordered. 25 dollars fine if I don't."

".. 25? How many books did you get"

I smiled as he sat down, panting while he tried to catch his breath.

"Seven, they're about roman and greek mythology"

He sighed, before he relaxed in his chair a bit.

"Ooh, i love mythology"

He smiles.

"I have to learn about it for a course im taking"

"Fun course?"

"No, not really"

He laughs.

I look to the counter at the back of the cafe .

"What do you want, i'll go get it for you"

"You sure?"

"Yeah"

I smile, getting a few dollar notes out of my bag.

"You looked a bit.. Exhausted."

I laugh quietly

"Uh.. just an iced mocha if they have it, water if they don't"

"Sure thing"

We talked for a bit before walking to my apartment, he put his bag near the sofa and wandered over to the tank.

"I can get him out if you want"

I said as I walked over to him with a cold bottle of water.

"Here"

I said as I passed it over to him, still admiring the large beetle wandering over the branches.

I laughed as I walked around him to open the tank.

I opened the top hatch and reached my hand down for him to crawl onto my hand.

Which Jey did.

And up my forearm as I lifted him out.

"Here"

I smile as I gently grab his wrist and put his arm nearer to mine.

I pick Jeremy up and place him onto Joshua's hand.

He seemed nervous.

Jey refused to move as he realised he was on a stranger and attempted to crawl off.

I put my four fingers over top of Joshuas and Jeremy quickly crawled over onto the back of my hand.

".. he'll warm up"

I smiled as Jey crawled up to my shoulder.

"I have a snake at home, she's an albino ball python, i think you'd like her"

"My sister used to own a ball python, and a tarantula"
