He chuckled. "When Blue ? It's been a year now and he hasn't talked to me since that day. You know ever since you left I never eat dinner with the family? I'm always out of the house on missions or training. It's better than being in a house where your own father can't even look at you. I feel like I'm suffocating him." He said as tears welled up in his eyes.
I hated seing Max like this. Max has a very bubbly personality and it's rare to see him hurt. Just like me, he doesn't easily cry. But this is the only thing that hurts him to the core. Seeking validation form our father when dad only sees him as weak and a failure.
"Where are you going today ?"
"I'm going to the warehouse for some training because the crew has nothing to do today." He forced a smile. "We're going to do some self-defence, fighting, shooting, stabbing and distance techniques- snipping."
Nothing I can't do. "Okay. I'll meet you there."
"You're coming ?" He asked suprised. "I thought you weren't supposed to see us until the mission is over ?"
"Well for starters my brother needs me so this mission can wait. Secondly, I gained Kenny's trust so I'm sure I'm not being followed or anything like that. I met Maddie and nothing went wrong. Thirdly, I haven't trained in two months this is my opportunity to do so. And lastly, I miss my big brother so why not ?"
"Okay." Max said with a genuine smile this time. "I can't wait to see you, I missed you like crazy."
"I know." I pouted and he chuckled. "Bye, love you."
"I love you too." He said as he hung up.

I spent my whole day at the warehouse training with Max. I missed him and seing him again after two months was amazing. Max was also happy to see me, I loved seeing my brother happy. We spent the day training with the crew and catching up. I was suprised to find out he's still going out with Chris. My brother never lasts in relationships. I think him and Chris might be serious, as long as he treats him right then everything's good.
We even went home to bath because the mansion is closer to the warehouse. The warehouse does have showers but I prefer bathing in my own room. Both Tina and dad weren't there and Max said something about them being out with business associatiotes or something, so I figured it must be a meeting about one of our cover businesses. We have five clubs that act as a cover for us. That way we can explain where the money comes from. But the clubs combined don't even make half of what the gang makes in a week.
I took a shower in my room and wore a short jumpsuit with flip flops. Max literally forced me to do my makeup for tonight. He is really good with make up, I had no doubts about that. I looked ravishing as hell when he finished. He did a complete facebeat, he did my eyebrows, eyelashes, eyeshadows, ponds. He even curled my hair and did my nails.
It was 5 o'clock when I left the mansion so I had an hour to get to Kenny's apartment and get ready. I arrived at the apartment forty five minutes later and put on the dress and heels. I looked extravagant with both the make up and dress combined. I could scream right now. Fifteen minutes later, exactly at six, I heard the door open. I was in the bedroom finishing my last touches on the lip gloss when Kenny entered.
As cliché as this sounds, his footsteps stopped midway as soon as he saw me. He looked at me with such admiration. He looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered at that moment.
"You look amazing- no amazing can't even.." He sighed stepping closer. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." I smiled at him as I took note of his outfit. "You're looking handsome too."
He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt. He wasn't wearing a tie and had the first two buttons unbottoned. He looked formal but in a bad boy type of way, not a business man type of way.
"I got something to go along with the dress." He said as he put his hands inside his pocket and took out a box. He opened it and I smiled as I saw a diamond necklace inside. He gave it to me and I looked at it. It was beautiful, it was heart shaped and it had atleast 21 carats of diamonds surrounding the heart. It was sparkly and shiny, the one that would grab attention of people's eyes in a room.
I came closer to him and wrapped my arms and his shoulders. He returned the hug by holding my waist tight and bringing me closer to him. I closed my eyes and inhaled his scent on the crook of his neck. The hug lasted longer than anticipated with none of us wanting to let go. We finally pulled apart and I kissed his lips.
"Thank you, I love it. And the dress too. It's beautiful." I smiled at him. "Wanna help me put this on ?"
He smiled as he took the necklace and I turned around. I looked at us in the mirror. The two of us looked perfect. We fit each other perfectly. But even I know that that's a lie, just like all the other lies I've been telling about myself. I know Kenny and I could never get our happy ending, but I hope he gets his happy ending with someone who deserves him. I don't deserve him, I know it will kill me to see him with someone else but atleast he'd be happy. I'm sure it won't kill me as much as lying and keeping secrets from the man I love does to me. He is a good man and he deserves a good woman.
A woman who won't lie to him about her identity. A woman who won't keep secrets from him. A woman who didn't cause him such pain. A woman who does good and is not a criminal like me. A woman who believes in justice just like him. A woman who loves him more than I do. And lastly,
A woman who didn't kill his parents.
