They all laughed and Thing 3 replied. "You guys know very well to stay away from our Liutenant Colonel, that's Jessica's territory. You remember her threatening to get me fired after she found out I had the shots for her man ?"
Wait- now they have my attention. Isn't Kenny the Liutenant of this station ?
"I think Jessica is the only woman I've seen with the big boss. And Kenny would literally kill anyone who disrespects her. I didn't want to get fired before I could even explain myself." Thing 3 added.
I think I got my answer. It's obvious they are talking about Kenny but who's this Jessica ?
The telephone infront of me rang before I could even hear the rest of their conversation. I answered the phone and spoke immediately. "Mayville Police Station how may we help you ?"
"This is Captain Rhodes calling from the Mayville Mall. We need backup. Terrorist attack. Report immidietly as many as you could." The man said before hanging up.
Great. Now that I just want to sit here and listen to the big mouths here, something happens. I've been sitting here the whole day anticipating for some action and nothing happened. These terrorists sure have good timing.
"Terrorist attack at the Mayville Mall, back up is needed." I said as I got out to inform the others and the trio immediately stood up and fixed their weapons. Atleast they know when to do an urgent Job.
I went to security room that had a microphone connected to everyone in the station and told them about the terrorist attack at the mall. Two minutes later six police cars were ready and the ones driving were already on the wheels while we got inside. One car could take four people excluding the one driving. So there were exactly thirty of us heading to the direction of the mall. The police cars where in line on the road as loud sirens were heard.
When we arrived at the mall and got out, the mall was secured with metal buttlers so the people outside the mall couldn't get in. Three uniforms, the camouflage, the blue dark uniform with black bullet proof and brown uniform but still nothing was in control. Chaos escalated as the media arrived and some people trying to get inside to their families, the hundreds of officials did their best to control the situation outside but nothing was done to control the situation inside.
Apparently, the terrorist group threatened to kill the people inside if the police tried to get in. I heard from one soldier that they were demanding a ransom of 50 million from the government. If the money wasn't dilivered in two hours, they will kill everyone inside the mall. They had the whole mall surrounded so if the police tried to sneak in, they would endanger people's lives.
"You have an hour and fourty minutes left on your clock. Use it wisely or the 300 people inside meet their doom." A man said with an Indian accent.
He was able to estimate the number of people, which only proved my assumption that the shoppers are all kept in a specific place inside the mall.
I had an idea of how this situation could be dealt with but I was just a junior officer I know no one would ever listen to a newcomer.
Max was once kidnapped in a surrounded warehouse and we weren't supposed to get inside or even try to kill the security or Max would be killed. I analysed the situation, came up with a plan and we saved Max without anyone getting hurt- except the kidnappers.
I looked at the front of the metal buttlers and saw a bunch of men and women in their uniforms. They were close to the mall doors and far from everyone. They must be in charge, they must be the big shots who run the justice system. All of them looked like really important people and they looked older than me. If I were to go there and suggest a plan, I would probably get laughed at.
It's worth a try, I thought as I made my way to the front of the mall. The important big shots concentrated on a man who had his back to me and he looked like he was giving them instructions as he pointed at the different directions of the mall.
"Where are you going. It's the leaders only there. We're supposed to stay put and wait for their orders." Thing 2 said and I ignored her as I continued to walk towards the group of professionals.
I cleared my throat as I stood behind the man who was giving instructions and everyone turned to me.
The man also stopped talking and turned to me, familiar dark eyes staring at me. Ken- I mentally face palmed myself. I'm really stupid, I couldn't even recognise his back.
"Blue what the fuck are you doing here ?" Kenny asked in worried tone as he came closer and touched my arms.
"I'm on duty ?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
He signed as he realised that I'm in my blue uniform. "Baby please go wait with the other officers okay ? It's dangerous to be so close to the doors. I don't want anything happening to you."
"I'm not sitting around doing nothing Kenny." I said as I removed his hands from my arms. The professionals around looked at me eyes wide open and I even heard some gasp. If I had to guess why they were so suprised it would be that it's because I just dified their leader's order.
Kenny's POV.
"I'm not sitting around doing nothing Kenny." She said as she removed my hands from her arms.
I nodded suprising everyone. "What's your plan." She asked and immediately got glares from my co-workers but she decided to avoid them.
"We organised the money, well not all of it. The want Fifty million but we're giving them one million that will be on top of the remaining counterfeit money. Once they get the money, they'll release the people and we capture the terrorists." I explained to her.
She scoffed." Yeah, that won't work." She said as she shaked her head looking around the mall.
"What do you mean it won't work ? You're just a Junior officer. We have experience and we know what we're doing. When the Captain gives orders, we obey. Who do you think you are telling us it wont work ?" A woman in a suit said as she looked at her.
A suit ? Here ? Really ?
"Okay you just shut up." Blue said to her calmly and they all looked at her like she just commited murder infront them. Blue's confidence was attractive, the way she carried herself and her ability to not cower from anyone. She's a badass and that's one of the things I like about her.
"Kenny listen to me." She said as she turned back to me. "No offence but your plan is a flop. Firstly they might have someone who identifies counterfeit money. They can't demand such a huge amount and not check if it's legit."
I didn't even think of that. I thought if they find the first million legit, they would believe that the rest of the money was original. But Blue was right. They can't demand sixty million and not check atleast half of it.
"Giving them fake money will only anger them and it will result in them killing people inside the mall to send a message.
Babe think about it, you think they will just randomly walk out of here after you gave them the money? They know they are surrounded, they know they are outnumbered and they know you'll catch them as soon as they get out. Why do you think they chose this mall ?"
I narrowed my eyes as I looked her confusingly and tried to get her point.
"The flat rooftop, don't tell me you guys didn't even notice the helicopter ?" She raised my eyebrows at us and we all immediately snapped our heads to the roof of the mall as our eyes widened.
"Fuck." I cursed as I looked at the helicopter on the roof. Why didn't I notice that before? And if someone noticed it why didn't they fucking say anything? Everything Blue said made sense. She's right, our plan would have failed dismally if we executed it.
Hundreds of people would have died if Blue didn't come on time. How could we make such a huge mistake? We are all Blue's superiors and we have more experience than her, she just proved to me that she isn't just a beauty. Blue is smart and cautious, she is exactly what we need in the police force. I couldn't help but feel proud that it was my girl who saved us from committing a blunder.
