The door of the basement cracked open with a loud creak and revealed a thin figure standing in front of it and holding a paper bag filled with food. It was a walkout basement located in the far corner of the villa, so it didn't necessarily have a staircase leading downstairs, but a metal door that led to it from the yard, and there weren't any windows, nor other doors or curtains for that matter. The walkout was hidden away inside a large shed near the back yard which was surrounded by trees and bushes and had the potential to hide them perfectly from prying eyes. So when Yeonjun walked inside, the basement was completely empty apart from a boy that was still sleeping on the floor since the previous night.
Yeonjun's chest was feeling like it was stuffed with bricks, his head ached so much with pain, and his throat was burning dry. His legs weren't strong enough to support his weight but they still managed to take him to the boy lying quietly on the floor in the middle of the room. He knelt beside the boy before dropping the bag full of food onto the floor.
His eyes darted to the peaceful face of the boy with deep sorrow and hopeless suffering etched upon his features. His heart was in extreme agony when he was watching his lover in that state. He was devastated and disgusted at himself for locking him up here in such an awful place, for putting him here to suffer without being able to do anything about it because there was no way he could help him escape his own mind which would destroy everyone if they weren't careful enough.
"I'm sorry..." He whispered painfully, feeling as if the word itself would tear his soul apart if he said it too loudly. His head was pounding as he held his head, trying to calm down his thoughts while looking at the unconscious boy lying in the center of the room, who was now completely different from the person he knew.
The silence in the room was starting to feel suffocating and unbearable to his ears as his breaths hitched in his throat every time he inhaled. He wanted nothing more than just to destroy everything in sight with his own hands, wanting to rip them apart from the inside because that would hurt less than seeing his lover like that. His fingers were trembling, his breath hitching whenever he took in another inhale because it hurt to exhale every time. His heart was aching terribly, tearing apart as if someone was stabbing it continuously in a constant process to destroy his emotions and make him suffer in endless torture.
He let out a defeated sigh and pulled out the syringe from his pocket before taking the protective cover off. His wistful eyes stared at the yellow liquid within the syringe, his finger lightly touching the barrel as if he was afraid it would burn him if he touched it any harder. The syringe contained the substance which could poison the evil spirit of a cat inside Taehyun's body, so the younger wouldn't manage to use the powers against anyone. Yeonjun wished he could do more than that for him and make his suffering go away, but that was all he could do, at least for now, but Detective Gail promised him that she'd do everything to find the way out of this situation. Before that, they needed to keep poisoning Taehyun, so the boy wouldn't be dangerous anymore.
