The sky was dark blue, not even a single cloud dotting the otherwise clear sky, and a soft breeze blew through. The grass below him swayed softly back and forth in sync with his breathing. Everything in front of him was completely silent apart from the faint rustle of leaves in the distance, and it seemed like he could finally breathe. He hadn't felt this free in a long time.
Taehyun smiled to himself as he sat on the grass with his legs crossed, his arms laying limply across his thighs as they stretched out in front of him. The air around him was crisp and fresh, so much so that the smell of fresh-cut grass tickled his nose slightly. He closed his eyes and allowed all of those thoughts to slowly fade away into oblivion before opening them once more.
He almost flinched at the sight of a tall figure towering over him, his expression slowly changing as he made out Beomgyu's face under the bright sunlight streaming above them. He was wearing dark clothes, something Taehyun had never really seen him wear before, but somehow, he looked just right. He watched as Beomgyu slowly lowered himself down beside Taehyun, sitting in awkward silence while they both just stared ahead, lost in their own little worlds.
"Hey," Beomgyu said after what seemed like minutes. His voice was soft, but there was no mistaking that the sound reached Taehyun's ears, and it pulled him out of whatever kind of trance he'd been in.
His gaze snapped back to Beomgyu as he turned his head to look at him, a smile still etched onto his lips despite how hard he tried to conceal it. "You look beautiful as always."
Taehyun blushed at the compliment as Beomgyu laughed lightly. The sound sent tingles throughout Taehyun's body, causing a strange feeling to spread from where he sat in the grass. He quickly averted his gaze once again, though, hoping that it would prevent any further embarrassment from overtaking him.
"You too, hyung."
They lapsed into silence again after Taehyun's response, both of them staring ahead, taking in the scenery in front of them. The sun wasn't too bright or blinding today, allowing them to see all of its beauty in full detail. It glittered off of some of the waterfalls, making them sparkle and reflect the light back at their onlookers.
"I miss you."
That surprised Taehyun, making him chuckle and snap his head to the boy beside him who was gazing ahead with a deep sadness in his shiny silver orbs, "We met yesterday, you dummy..."
Beomgyu sighed softly, turning his head to meet Taehyun's eyes for a brief moment before looking back forward. The younger boy studied his features, trying to decipher what had caused such a change in demeanor. A few seconds went by before Taehyun spoke up again.
"Are you feeling okay, hyung?"
"Why did you save my life, Taehyun?"
Taehyun was totally taken aback by his question, and although his first instinct was to question why he'd asked that, he couldn't seem to find any words coming out of his mouth as if his mind were having trouble grasping what his brain was actually saying.
