He could see nothing besides the darkness and feel it pulsating through his body. The sensation made him feel as though he was being squeezed between two very heavy objects. He was floating in a sea of blackness, which did not give him any sense of orientation, direction, or comfort. It was just as if the only thing around him was an endless dark abyss that stretched on and on forever. It was like being buried alive, he decided. It was like a void had taken over the room and all that remained inside of it was a feeling of isolation.
"Taehyun!"
Taehyun instantly turned in the direction where Beomgyu's voice came from but saw no one. He tried to call out to the boy but his vocal cords felt as if they had been tied down with thick tape. All that escaped them was a feeble whisper. It seemed more like an animal's howl than anything else.
"Taehyun? I'm here."
A few seconds later a light shimmered in his view and soon Taehyun caught sight of Beomgyu looking at him with concerned eyes. His face was illuminated by what appeared to be a small ball of light. He didn't look as pale as he usually did. There was a slight tint of pink in his cheeks, which contrasted sharply against his pallor. His eyes looked darker than usual too, but Taehyun couldn't tell whether this was because they had grown wider in fear, apprehension, or worry.
Beomgyu held out his hand, but Taehyun couldn't make himself reach for it. He knew he couldn't. So he looked up at the boy hesitantly.
"Hold my hand and we can do so many things together."
The smile Beomgyu offered him was filled with hope and care. Taehyun could feel warmth spreading throughout his body. Despite the lack of air around his body, he felt lighter somehow. His chest felt hollow yet warm but he still couldn't bring himself to hold the other's hand.
"Come on, Tyunnie," Beomgyu continued, "Don't you trust me?"
Taehyun wanted to answer him, but he simply said, "No."
Beomgyu's expression hardened, his lips pursed in frustration as he looked at the younger with hesitation in his heterochromatic eyes which were so pretty, yet so deadly. He dropped his hand to his side, "You are smarter than this, Taehyun," he reassured, "Don't you really want to be strong? I can give you my powers and help you control them. You'll become stronger — "
"No!" Taehyun's protest was louder now. He closed his eyes shut and forced himself to breathe evenly, trying to regain his bearings, "No... please, no. I don't need your powers. Don't take me away from home."
"Everyone wants to be strong," Beomgyu replied sternly this time, frowning at Taehyun's reaction. "You don't have to be scared. You won't ever feel trapped, or helpless anymore. You'll be free of all pain... Only if you let me in."
Taehyun gasped at the last statement, it almost sounded like something wanted to possess him.
