OKAY SLIM IT JUST COME GET ME
Newt turned off his phone. Then he saw him.
It was like in a movie, they locked eyes from a distance and somehow didn't loose each other despite the mass of bodies moving. Then he was running, forgetting he ever had a limp because nothing was going to stop him right now.
Ten metres away.
Thomas was running as well, they both had tears streaming down their faces. Newt left his suitcase where it was and leaped into his lover's arms, positively sobbing.
"Never again." Thomas was crying just as hard. "Don't ever leave me like that again."
"I promise." Newt sobbed into Thomas's neck. "I promise."

They'd both fallen asleep the moment they got home. Thomas could barely drive their Fiat back to the apartment. He carried Newt's suitcase despite the blonde's protests then they left it in the hall and staggered into their bedroom, their hands laced together, never letting go.
They collapsed onto the bed, then Newt shifted so his back was pressed against Thomas's chest and Thomas wrapped his arm around Newt's waist and Newt intertwined their fingers on his stomach and they fell asleep.
When Thomas woke up, it was five PM and Newt was facing him, sleeping peacefully. Six months...it felt like forever had passed yet no time at all. And they had two weeks together before they both returned to work. Newt muttered something in his sleep and then sighed, his nose twitching.
Thomas smiled and found Newt's hand and fell asleep again.
When Thomas woke up again, it was eight o'clock in the evening and Newt was gone. He sat up. The bedroom was empty. He stumbled out of bed, barely aware he was only in his jeans, nothing else. He walked to the kitchen to see Newt at the cooker, frying something. Newt had his back to him, he was shirtless too and wearing only sweatpants and the usual silver chain around his neck. Thomas went up to him and wrapped his arms around Newt's waist and held him tight, like he did the day he left.
"Good evening sleeping beauty." Newt turned the cooker down and turned around, throwing his arms around Thomas's neck.
"I missed you so much." Thomas mumbled, their foreheads touching. "I cried myself to sleep nearly every night."
"For six months?" Newt asked.
Thomas nodded.
"Oh love. I wouldn't have left if it meant you were hurting without me." Newt hugged the brunette.
"The only good thing that came out of this was your...slight promotion?"
"Yes. But...that's not the only thing..."
"Oh really?" Thomas raised an eyebrow. "What would the other thing be?"
"I'll tell you at dinner." Newt winked and turned back to the cooker. Thomas didn't let go of Newt's waist.
"Tell me now." He said.
"No, you're gonna have to be bloody patient." Newt stirred food in the pan.
"Please tell me?" Thomas kissed the side of Newt's neck. Hard.
"Tommy..." Newt said softly. Thomas nipped at the skin gently. "I've forgotten how good you are at that." Newt said.
"Come back to bed with me?" Thomas asked into the blonde's neck.
"No, we're going to eat first, then I'm telling you the surprise then we'll go back to bed." Newt turned off the cooker and pried the hands off his waist. "Sit." He ordered, grabbing two plates.
"You are so mean." Thomas sat down at the table.
"I know." Newt placed the plates on the table and scooped the stir fry onto them.
"You made stir fry!" Thomas exclaimed happily, taking a fork.
"No it's pork stir fry." Newt sat down in front of him.
"Better again."
"So what's the surprise?" Thomas stood, taking the empty plates to the sink and sat back down. Newt's heart began beating faster than ever.
"I lied." He said.
"There's no surprise?" Thomas questioned.
"There is, I lied about something else."
"Well, I'm sorry you had to lie to me." Newt could hear the hurt in Thomas's voice.
"It's not bad, I swear, let me explain!"
Thomas nodded, folding his arms over his chest.
"Okay." Newt sighed. "I lied about being held back for work. I had to stay for three more days for something else."
"What would that be?" Thomas asked, leaning forward, elbows on the table.
"I..." Newt struggled to find what he wanted to say.
"Hey, you can tell me anything, you know that." Thomas had a look of concern in his eyes and it only made Newt love him more.
"I don't know how to tell you." Newt said quietly.
"Tell me what?"
"That I love you."
Thomas laughed. "You tell me that everyday."
"What I'm trying to get to is I stayed three more days because I walked past a jewellery shop."
"Okay...?"
"And I saw this." Newt took out the blue velvet box from the pocket of his sweatpants. Thomas visibly froze.
"I love you beyond words and I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I want to watch every sun rise and sunset with you and I want to see the rest of the world with you, I want to grow old and die with you because I love you and I don't want it any other way."
Thomas's eyes slowly widened.
"We're not getting any younger and I'm tired of waiting." Newt opened the box and Thomas gasped. "Thomas Edison, will you marry me?"
Nothing.
Silence.
Still nothing.
The silence was destroying Newt on the inside.
Then, Thomas slowly nodded. "Yes." He said quietly. He smiled. "Yes!"
They both stood up and Thomas threw his arms around Newt's neck, tears streaming down his face. "Yes, of course I'll marry you, you fucking idiot!"
Newt laughed, crying as well. Then he took Thomas's hand and slipped the ring on his finger.
