Fisherman's Blues 💙

The song started playing when I was wiping the counter. Tommy had turned on the radio and we were swaying to whatever played, wether we knew it or not.

Then at the first sound of the violin, he turned to me smiling wide. He held out his hand, singing,

"I wish I was a fisherman, tumblin' out on sea."

I laugh. (Far away from dry land) "The kitchen?" He shakes his head.

"And it's bitter memories. Castin' out my sweet line, with abandonment and love."

I take his hand and we start dancing.

"No ceiling bearin' down on me, save the starry sky above."

"With light in my head, you in my arms." I sing along with him, smiling. Then I break away and grab the cloth, Thomas still dancing.

"I wish I was the brakeman, on a hurtlin fever train." Thomas tries to take my hand but I swat him playfully with the cloth.

"Crashin' head long into the heartland. Like a cannon in the rain. With the feelin' of the sleepers, And the burnin' of the coal." Thomas steals the cloth from behind me.

"Hey!" I whip around.

"Countin' the towns flashin' by, And a night that's full of soul." He holds it in front of me.

"With light in my head, you in my arms." I give in and grab his hand and grip his waist.

"Woo!" Thomas holds me the same way and spins me, round and round around the kitchen and living room for the violin part that he loves so much.

"I know I will be loosened, from the bonds that hold me fast." I sing.

"And the chains all around me, will fall away at last." Thomas grins.

"And on that grand and fateful day-"

"I will take thee in my hand-"

"I will ride on train-"

"I will be the fisherman-"

"With light in my head!" I laugh as Thomas swoops me down.

"You in my arms!" He sings back, then spins me again at the violin.

"Light in my head."

"You in my arms."

"Light in my head." I twirl him.

"You in my arms." Thomas whispers in my ear and kisses me.

I throw my arms around his neck and kiss him back. The song comes to an end.

We stand in the middle of the room, holding the other tight.

Thomas's breath tickles my neck, it's warm.

"I love you." He says.

"I love you too."

"No, like, I really love you, if there's a word more than love I'd use it in a heartbeat."

This makes me hold him tighter. "I would too, you know that."

"Yeah." Thomas nods into my neck.

"You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, yeah?"

"Yes."

"And there's no one I'd rather be with?"

"Yes."

"And your my life?"

"Yes."

"And you're the space in my bed?"

"Y- what?"

I smile and sing, "you're the morning when it's clear, when it's over you're the start."

"You're my head and you're my heart."
