* 1 year later *

It was a quiet Saturday morning when he picked up the steaming plate and left the kitchen.

"Breakfast is ready," he shouted towards the children's bedroom and a few minutes later Daira and Kyouka came running into the dining room.

Chuuya had decided to adopt Kyouka after the affair.

Their eyes widened when they saw the pancakes that Chuuya had made for breakfast. Daira, who was already seven years old, had stars in her eyes when she saw her favorite dish on the table.

After Chuuya had placed the plate on the table, he went back to fry the remaining pancakes in the pan. While he was pouring new dough into the pan, two arms sneaked around his waist and the person who had entered the kitchen unnoticed yawned heartily. After that, the person began to spread butterfly kisses on Chuuya's neck.

"Hey, Dazai leave it," Chuuya said as he tried to focus on the pancake so it wouldn't burn. "But I'm hungry," he mumbled in response. "Food is already ready," Chuuya replied and put the last pancake on the plate, then he turned around in Dazai's embrace and looked him in the face. "Feed me.".  At these words, Chuuya just rolled his eyes.

Sometimes he had the feeling that he was taking care of three children, with Kyouka being the easiest to take care of.

As Daira grew up, it turned out that she was more like her father than Chuuya had initially thought. Maybe Daira's behavior was just because Dazai had rubbed off on her too much.

Chuuya sighed and rolled up the top pancake and stuffed it into Dazai's open mouth. "Here. When you're done, come to the dining room and have a decent breakfast with us." Chuuya then meanders out of his embrace and leaves the kitchen.

As Dazai looked after him, he couldn't help but think of what had happened a year ago:

*one year ago*

Mori had already knocked out most of the ADA members and Dazai lay intensely motionless on the floor. The only ones left were Yosano, Atsushi and Kunikida. Just as Elise, whom he had summoned after Dazai had gone to the ground, wanted to rush to the three, Mori froze.

He stood there as if rooted when he felt the cold barrel of a pistol in his neck and an ice-cold hand on his arm. "Hands up and no wrong movement!" came an ice-cold voice behind him.

"Dazai-san!" exclaimed Atsushi joyfully. Mori's eyes widened. "What???  How???," he stuttered. "Surprise," Dazai said only, still in a cold voice, "You want to know why I'm not dead? This is easy to explain: let's just say that you are not the only one who does not trust the other. By the way, thanks for the antidote Yosano. But I have to admit that it was a bit difficult not to accidentally swallow it while talking." Yosano just laughed. "Thank Chuuya, if he hadn't insisted that you had an antidote for emergencies in the molar tooth, you would have gone for it." Inwardly, she was relieved that Chuuya had insisted on this precaution. She had no idea how to teach him that something had happened to Dazai. She didn't even want to think about Daira.

After that, everything happened quite quickly. Dazai handcuffed Mori and a few minutes later the criminal police arrived and took Mori into custody. After what he had done, he would be in prison for the rest of his life and Chuuya and Daira were finally safe from him forever.

*Present*

Dazai entered the dining room and had to smile at the sight of his family. Daira was being fed by Chuuya while Kyouka thickly smeared her pancakes with chocolate. What else had Chuuya just said that Dazai had rubbed off on Daira. Dazai crossed the room and sat down at the dining table. "Good morning dad," Daira greeted him with a big smile and Kyouka also looked up briefly from her plate and just nodded.

"Come on Daira, can't you eat yourself?" he teased his daughter. "That's exactly what the right person says," Chuuya murmured. "Do you want to say anything honey?" asked Dazai, who had heard him very carefully. "No, nothing," Chuuya said with an innocent face.

After that, everyone turned back to their food, except for Dazai, who let his gaze glide over his family and couldn't help but smile. He couldn't help but think about what had happened that past year:

How he and Chuuya had slowly rebuilt their relationship and now had no more problems, how he had finally met Mamizu and Kaoru and how the two women almost beat him up if Chuuya hadn't stopped them. How Kouyou had come out of prison sooner because of her cooperation and met Daira for the first time.

Then Mamizu and Kaoru announced that they were now expecting a child themselves and the wonderful holiday the family spent together during the summer holidays. Daira's school enrollment and her birthday had overwhelmed Dazai so much that he had to cry and Chuuya was infinitely grateful.

Dazai looked at him with a wry grin and opened his mouth. "I'm still too tired to eat myself. You have to feed me.".

He watched his family. Kyouka as she just smeared a new pancake with chocolate, Daira who finally ate by herself and watched Chuuya.

Dazai's gaze followed Chuuya's hand wading down to his stomach again and again, of which one could already guess a slight curve. Dazai almost cried as he remembered the moment Chuuya had told him the news. At that time, of course, he had cried and wondered never to leave Chuuya alone again.

"Mmh?" Chuuya looked at him questioningly as he felt his eyes on him. "Nothing," Dazai said, "I'm just very happy right now." Chuuya smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Me too."

This is the end of my story. I'm sorry for the long silence between the chapters. I hope you enjoyed it. Please give me some feedback on how you liked the story and if there was a place you didn't like and why. I'm afraid that the story is too rushed and actually I had planned to end the story much earlier. I hope you still had fun reading this story.
