"She kept telling herself it was just an accidental moment. But if that was true, why was her heart still racing?"

***

He held me against him like it was the easiest thing in the world. No struggle. No effort.

Okay, sure, I wasn't that heavy, but I wasn't that light either. He definitely worked out.

A strong, inexplicable urge hit me—to touch his biceps, to feel just how sturdy those arms were - the very arms that had me locked in place. Purely for scientific research, of course.

End of Y/n's POV.

🎮Taehyung's POV:

My arms fit snugly around her tiny waist. She was so petite that my hands could completely wrap around her. My cute little dwarf.

And damn, that scent.

A mix of vanilla and something uniquely her. It was intoxicating—too intoxicating. It had somehow become my favorite—but only on her. Her natural scent mixed with the vanilla was dangerously addictive, messing with my self-control.

The kind of scent that made my head spin, made me want to pull her even closer.

***

"She fit in his arms like a secret—one he wasn't ready to share with the world, one he wanted to keep just a little longer."

"She could fight him all she wanted, push him away with every ounce of her fire—but the truth was, she'd never been held so gently before."

***

But she, of course, was busy flailing her arms, still trying to reach her damn book.

She's shorter than short. Like, next-level short.

"Come on. Get it now," I teased, looking down at her.

"I'm trying, buttonhead. If you couldn't tell," she shot back, looking up at me fiercely.

I gulped.

Damn. She was feisty. And I loved it.

***

"She thought she was winning their little war of words. He knew he was winning the war of falling first."

***

"We haven't got all day, Shortie," I teased.

Wrong move.

A second ago, she was struggling helplessly to grab the book. Now? she looked like she was ready to wring my neck. Uh-oh.

Acting fast, I shifted my grip and held her even more securely against my side, keeping her from escaping. She was wriggling like an impatient toddler being held back from playtime, mumbling what I was sure were curses at me. I chuckled, knowing I was driving her crazy.

While she was busy plotting my demise, I smoothly reached up and grabbed the novel she had been struggling with for so long.

***

"Maybe he was trouble. Maybe he was reckless. But right now, with her in his arms, he was just... home."

***

Honestly, the book wasn't the troublemaker here. It was thanks to it that I got to hold her this close.

But was Buttercup grateful?

Absolutely not.

As soon as I started lowering her back to the ground, she whacked me – hard.

"How dare you call me short? You—blueberry head!" she huffed.

Wait. What?

I blinked. Blueberry head? Oh. Right. I had completely forgotten about my new hair color.

Excuse me, I at least deserved a tiny compliment. My hair looked insanely good, thank you very much.

She hmphed and walked off to the next shelf, her precious book now clutched tightly to her chest. I followed after her like a lost puppy.

Because honestly? I was sad. Upset. Where was my compliment?

Just as I was about to confront her about it, she suddenly stopped in her tracks and spun around —

—slamming headfirst into my chest.

Shortie, shortie, why so dorky?

***

"He had teased her a hundred times before. But this? This was different. This was her heartbeat against his, her scent clouding his mind, her warmth sinking into his skin. And suddenly, he didn't want to tease her anymore—he just wanted to stay."

***

She quickly pulled back, rubbing her forehead with her palm before looking up at me cutely. Her small palm against her flushed skin made my heart clench in a way I wasn't ready to admit.

"You had left, right?" she asked, frowning.

I smirked. ""No, I didn't." I let out a breath, my voice softer than I expected. "Like you chided me earlier for always leaving you alone when we're supposed to complement each other, I reflected on that. And, I've made a decision."

She raised an eyebrow. "What decision?"

I grinned, leaning in slightly. "I'm never going to leave you alone again. I'll stick around everywhere. I promise to stay with you—always and forever."

End of Taehyung's POV.

***

"Her world was books, distant and untouchable. And yet, here he was—pulling her back into reality, into him."
