"I take it off when I sleep sometimes," Eren laughed and lied down on the bench with his knees stretched out.
"Remember when that used to be my scarf," Mikasa rolled her eyes and wrapped it around her again.
"It's your own fault that you covered my entire fucking face with it," Both of them laughed, but Mikasa's laugh was a little lighter. I honestly had no idea what they were talking about, but at least Eren isn't mad at her for whatever reason.
As I ran down, I heard Mikasa making sure Eren had everything he needed for school. She was more of his mother than his sister, but she was also totally bad-ass. I began to change my clothes, and afterwards, I brushed my hair. I would usually brush my teeth, but we weren't really in the conditions to do so. The jeans were very baggy on me, but also more comfortable than I thought they'd be. I began to walk back up to where Eren and Mikasa were, and once I reached them, we were all ready to leave for school.
Mikasa and Eren certainly knew how to take care of themselves. I don't know how long they've been alone with just themselves for survival, but their lives sure as hell were not easy, and they brushed it off as if it were nothing. I'm not sure how they are mentally holding up, but I do know that they are both very strong people.
"Did we have any homework?" Eren asked while looking to his feet. I assumed that the question was for my answering, considering the fact that I was in 3 of his classes and homeroom.
"No. They don't usually give out homework on the first day," Eren nodded and kicked a rock that was close to him.
"At the orphanage I used to live in, they always made us do work, even during the summers. They said that it would find a way to educate all of our empty and meaningless minds." I could sense Eren's anger filling, and I knew Mikasa did, too, because she squeezed his hand and told him to calm down.
"Did they let you out, or..." Eren shook his head aggressively.
"Hell no. I had to try for 4 months just to break out of the god damn building itself," I gulped and nearly tripped on my own feet.
"That sounds awful, I'm sorry." Eren turned to me and smiled half-heatedly.
"We're here." Mikasa said goodbye to Eren and I, and took the stairs to the 10th grade floor. Since we were not early, we had to go straight to homeroom. Eren threw his backpack on the ground, rather dramatically if I name myself the judge, and took out his morning binders. He struggled to fit his duffel bag into his locker along with his backpack. He was in Mr. Braun's room faster than I had gotten there, surprisingly, since he was in a struggle. I staggered in moments later only to find, not the most shocking sight, but not one I'd like to witness everyday, Eren and Jean in another fist-fight.
"You don't have the balls to tell on me, so why don't you just go home and cry to mommy and daddy?" Something in Eren's eyes changed, and the color got thinner and his determination grew bigger.
"Why does everyone just make stupid assumptions? It's everyone! Everyone is so fucking stupid!" He smashed his fist roughly against Jean's face, easily sending him falling backwards. Eren stomped on him in the gut with his foot 3 times too many. "I don't have a home with a mom and dad to run to, you idiot!" Jean grabbed Eren's foot and pulled him down to the ground, allowing himself to stand up.
"No wonder you're so messed up in the head!" Jean grabbed Eren by the shirt and pushed him against the wall.
"Stop it!" I ran up to them and put my arms through the two of them.
"Get out of this, Christa," Why did people always mistake me with Christa?
"It's... Armin," Jean looked at me and scoffed.
