The fifth period bell rang, and Eren and I were off to class. We found out that we both had gym next and were in the same class. Even though it was the first day, we still had to change. I doubt we'll be doing anything, though.
I shuffled over to the boys locker room only to hear Levi call my name.
"Oi, pretty-boy. No pussies allowed in here." I tried to ignore him, but it was difficult when literally everyone but Eren was laughing. To my surprise, Eren had turned around and punched Levi square in the nose. Levi fell back and when he stood back up, his nose was bleeding really hard. All of the boys going into the locker room said "OOOOHHHH!" in unison. Who would have the courage to punch the most popular kid in the grade in front of everyone? Eren, of course.
Levi was silent all gym class. No one dared talk to him, or even tried coming up to him. He was pissed. And everyone knew to never approach a pissed Levi. That could be very dangerous. When there was five minutes till the bell, our gym teacher let us go back to change. When we all got back to the locker room, Levi went up to Eren and challenged him to a fight. To no ones surprise, Eren agreed with a stern face.
The day ended with another boring lecture about the rules of the class and what to expect. What everyone was waiting for was going to take place after school.
Dismissal bell came finally after a long and boring 7 hours of what? The same shit we've heard the past 9 years on the first days of school. Eren's locker was 3 away from mine, and the whole time he was putting away his things, he had an angry look on. He always did, but this one was more powerful, more intimidating. I stepped next to him and tapped him lightly.
"Are you really going to fight Levi?" He flinched and turned around quickly.
"Of course I am! I have to! I need to show him what a brat he is!" He turned back around and shoved the remaining books in his backpack. He pushed me aside and stormed out of the school. I quickly followed after, but by the time I got outside, he was already in stance with Levi.
"It's not over until one of us is knocked out, brat." Levi murmured. Before anyone called the beginning, Eren was charging towards Levi while yelling. Levi was knocked to the ground.
"That was uncalled for!" Levi flipped Eren onto his back and kicked him in the gut. Eren stood back up and punched Levi's mouth, causing a tooth to be knocked out.
"Damnit, Eren! That was permanent," I can't watch this anymore. I don't want to join the fight, because the only thing I'm good at doing is get beaten up. It would also be difficult to fight through the gigantic swarm of people surrounding them, but here I go anyway. I pushed my way through everyone and eventually made my way to Eren and Levi.
"Stop!" Levi released Eren and turned towards me.
"Hey, look who cared to join. If it isn't little Armin." He pushed me onto the ground and put one foot on my chest.
"Anyone want to join this... what shall I call it... survival of the fittest?" Everyone in the crowd shook their head, obviously intimidated. Levi nodded. "Then go away before I make you become a part of it!" Everyone ran in opposite directions, but all eventually left.
"Get off of him, you bastard!" Eren charged towards Levi again and didn't fail to knock him over.
"Stop defending this helpless blonde, you know he wouldn't be able to defend you if you were in a situation like this," Eren punched Levi in the nose again, making his nose bleed. Again.
"What has he done to you?" Levi stepped back, allowing me to stand up. Eren held out his hand for me to stand up. Why am I always so dependent? Why can't I do anything by myself?
"I can stand up by myself..."
"Can you?" Levi kicked me to the ground again. I coughed and tried to squirm free, but it was no use. Levi was too strong and I was too weak.
"You know, Levi," I said between coughs, "It's people like you that don't make it far enough on the good side to be seen as one," Levi scoffed.
"Stop talking shit, Armin. You're not strong enough to last in the real world."
"But you're too stupid to realize that I'm right and you're wrong," he kicked my face and walked away.
"I don't need to waste my time on faggots like you." I struggled to stand up, so Eren helped me even though I didn't want him to. It wasn't until now we noticed Mikasa staring at us, with her mouth opened wide.
"What the hell was that?" Mikasa rushed over and brushed dirt off of Eren's clothing.
"Stop it! Stop pretending to be my mom, Mikasa, god damnit!" He pushed her away and threw his backpack back on.
"Where are you going, Eren?" She was way calmer than Eren. She kept her normal tone.
"I don't know." Eren threw his backpack off and sat at one of the benches and cupped his hands over his eyes and began to shake. "There isn't anywhere to go, is there?" He stood up and used his hands for his primary speaking source.
"No, there isn't, unless you want to sleep at the train station again." The only thing that was crossing my mind was, where in the hell do these kids come from?
"Where do you guys live? Maybe my grandpa can drive you there," Eren turned to me with a sad look.
"Thanks Armin, but we don't have a home. We can't go anywhere unless you have any ideas." I was in complete shock. I thought that Eren had seen some shit before in his life, but he doesn't even have a home. I can't even begin to think about what has happened in his and Mikasa's lives.
"You can stay at my place, we have a guest bedroom that you guys can stay in and food. My grandpa probably won't be there so it will be fine." Eren's face lit up. He ran up to me and grasped both of his hands on my shoulders.
"Are you serious?!" I nod and smile at him. "You're awesome!" He pulled me into a tight hug that only ended when Mikasa spoke up.
"Thank you so much, Armin, we really appreciate it." I smiled at her.
"Any time you need to, you can stay." Eren hugged me again until I began to choke.
"Hah, I'm sorry, I'm just very grateful." His face was red from top to bottom.
Damn... He was blushing really hard...
