anniversary

I stood alone in the LAX airport, searching around the baggage claim for my suitcase. I was exhausted, the jet lag making me want to pass out right then and there, but just the thought of seeing Shawn's face after two months was the only thing keeping me awake at that moment.

I'd been on tour week after week, my manager failing to allow me any contact with Shawn. It was pure hell, not being able to text or even FaceTime him, but I know he supported me in whatever I did, so I let it go and decided to do something that made me happy for once.

Shawn didn't know I was coming home today, probably just expecting a five minute call for our three year anniversary, because he knew how busy both our schedules were. But there was no way I could do that to him.

Grabbing the bundle of blue tulips, I hurriedly snatched my bag from the conveyer belt and called down a yellow cab to take me home to my Shawn. A shadow of a smile played on my lips as I looked out at the night sky, praying he would be just as excited to see me as I were him.

--

11:58 shone on the screen of my phone, my body trembling from excitement as I walked up the steps to our loft and silently snuck my key into the doorknob, turning it. The hatch unlocked and I tiptoed in, placing my luggage down near the shoe rack, neatly setting the bouquet of flowers in my hand and beginning to walk towards the bedroom.

I froze in the middle of the hallway when I saw the door to our place half shut, skimpy clothing and lacy lingerie creating a trail towards the lightly lit room. Moans echoed throughout the empty corridor, my throat getting tight and tears beginning to fall as I got closer. I could only pray that what I was seeing was purely just my imagination, but as soon as I shoved the door back, my hopes were gone.

There lay Shawn, a busty blonde on top of him, the two a writhing mess between the white sheets. All I could do was stare at him in pain, and they way he looked at her with such lust in his eyes.

"Shawn?" I whisper, hands shaking.

As soon as he heard my voice, he flung the small girl off of his body and looked my way. For a split second, I saw anger in his brown eyes, but it was quickly replaced by guilt as his cheeks turned red and his hands pulled the blanket over his naked body.

"Y/n," his voice managed to croak out, staring at me with only remorse plastered on his face.

Hurt was the only thing I could feel right now. My body was numb with misery. I never thought I could ever feel like this. But then again, I never though Shawn was the type of person to do this either.

I looked from him, to the girl, then right back him. It's like all he could do was stare at me. He didn't try to explain, he didn't try to apologize. He just stared.

12:00

Slowly walking over to where he lay, I handed him the blue tulips. His bottom lip quivered and tears began to leave his eyes, but I, I just stood there, emotionless.

"Happy three year anniversary Shawn."

And that was it. I left. Out of our life, out of his life, out of my own life. That's all I really could do.
