My eyes began to open bit by bit, from an obscure view to a clear one. I slowly became aware of myself. My eyelids opened the smallest amount, revealing the geometric pattern of the grey ceiling tile. I suddenly became conscious.
" Ahh, my head hurts", I yelled.
" Are you okay", Vincent said as he plunged through the door of my room, intruding in.
"No, am not okay, my head hurts so much", I groaned.
"Give me a second", Vincent said to me as he left the room.
"Jezze, how long have I been sleeping?", I asked myself.
Vincent came in with a glass of water, he made
his way to my bed as he assisted me sit up on the bed causing me to rest my back on the Bunkie board.
He passed me the glass of water handing over a Panadol. I sipped a little bit of the water as I threw two tablets of Panadol in my mouth, I sipped another water so as to push the tablets down. "Vincent, how long have I been sleeping?", I asked him handing over the glass of water to him.
" You have been sleeping since you came back from school", he replied.
"And what is the time now ?".
"It is 6:07am".
" No way I would have been sleeping since I came back from school, oh, I can't remember anything".
"What's there to remember?", Vincent asked me.
" I have no idea Vincent".
"And where is mom?", I asked Vincent?
" She left for work, you know how she is. She is always punctual when it comes to her job".
"Right", I smirked.
"I don't think I can catch some sleep any more, I guess my sleeping bundle has expired for today", I said.
" Really? bundle? you're so extra Jadah, buy some then, if your sleeping bundle has expired", he said almost bursting out in a complete laughter.
" Well, any suggestion on where to buy some? huh?", I said almost laughing too.
" Yes! amazon sells sleeping bundles".
"What? amazon?", I burst out into fully fledged laughter so did Vincent.
" Ahh, my head ", I said in an excruciating headache
" Are you okay? ".
" Yes, am getting better", I said in reply.
We had a wholesome conversation as we chatted for long. We didn't even know when the time had
clocked 7:49am.
Vincent left my room heading down stairs to prepare break-fast.
" No burnt breakfast today please " I yelled.
I made my way to the bathroom. I staired at my-self at the mirror for about 2 minutes. I tried recalling
everything that happened, but was to no avail. I turned the valve of my shower as I waited patiently for the water to gush out. I switched it to heater as I was catching cold. The steam peddled round the bathroom coming out from the running shower water causing my window to be a bit blurred and my mirror too. It sounded pitter-patter as the water dropped on the bathtub. I took my soap and
I rubbed it over my sponge which ensued a bubble. I scrubbed my body thoroughly as I opened my shower again to wash the foams off my body.
The water gushed out again with a pleasing touch on my skin. The water soaked my blonde hair like that of a wet hen, who had just got trenched by the rain. Every area of my hair was engulfed by water.
" Ah, my head", I said rather too fast.
I took my hand round and about my head looking for the spot the water had wet, that would have ensued such pain. My hand went roaming around my blonde hair, roaming in search for a scar or something.
" Yeah, I feel something". I touched the spot one more time.
" Ah, that hurts". I removed my hand gently only to see blood on my index finger. I was done showering. I came out of the bathroom, then I applied some medications on it with a first aid. I sat on my chair facing my square shape mirror in my room, wondering what would have brought about the
injury. I tried to remember but it was to no avail, the more I tried to recall the more my head hurt. I drew out my make-up box and applied a casual make- up, one that was not too serious.
I put on a red polo dress, reaching me at my kneel length. I had white sneakers on, I put on my ears a silver cluster earring. I dried my blonde hair properly then I applied my hair cream gently.
I parked my blonde hair forming a bonnet at the back. My neck looked empty, which in my case wasn't giving what it should. I then put on my silver customized necklace on my neck, written on it was my name Jadah. It looked perfect. I sprayed
my perfume and then I was ready to go to school. Lastly, I applied my eyeliner, it didn't turn out the way I wanted but it was okay, okay it wasn't, let me be honest, it was bad, I have tried thousands of You-tube tutorials but I still couldn't get it right.
Most times its perfect and most times it isn't.
"well, am good to go downstairs now".
I made my way down stairs to the sitting room.
Vincent was watching BBC, he was so engrossed. "Let me see what you're watching", I walked to the
sitting room.
"what!", I yelled.
" I ought to have kept track with this news". I sat
down on the couch with Vincent as we both had our eyes clued on the screen.
"Oh no, I missed the news, I didn't watch it for like two days now", I said.
"Jadah, can you shut the hell up so we can hear what its saying".
(NEWS BROADCAST)
This is the voltage from the ABC SHOPPING MALL that had undergone a burglary last Sunday, (it plays on the TV screen).
A man wearing a hoodie of color black walked inside the shop, he passed several shelf containing varieties of items, his face wasn't seen as he only faced one direction, besides, the hoodie was covering his head. There were no persons caught on camera who were basically present at the shop. He went further, all of a sudden, he brought out a big sack bag and he started packing several items hysterically as if a demon entered him, he packed female wears,
glasses, male wears, shoes, snacks and some other petty things. As he was putting the things in his sack bag, some things were falling off his hands, he pushed several shelf containing varieties of items, all of a sudden, he heard a sound. He stopped abruptly looking at the direction of the entrance door. He brought out a gun, he loaded 3 bullets in it and he shot at the direction of the entrance door, he then brought out a knife. He started turning slow to the direction of the camera, but
before he turned completely the voltage became blurry and went off.
"what!", I said in chagrin.
(continuation of the news broadcasting) the media personality uttered:
well, this is the only voltage that would have been able to reveal who the criminal is. Thorough investigations are ongoing and we will keep you all, the general public
updated. Stay tuned.
"Pompom". It was the sound of the school bus. "Oh bad, I haven't had breakfast", I said.
" Bye Vincent, see you later".
" Bye", he waved.
"Good morning", I greeted the driver.
I meticulously walked my way back seat. I sat down close to the window. Then, the driver started driving.
"Din, din, din", it was my phone ringing.
I brought my phone out of my bag. It was mom calling, before I picked, I looked around the bus, cleared my throat, then I picked.
"Hey mom, wassup? ".
"Good, am missing you Jadah".
"Mom? I miss you too, I missed the times we had proper conversations ".
" Jadah! why aren't you picking your calls?".
" Mom, when did you call me?".
" I called you on Tuesday evening like over 28 times, I was really worried you know. Anyways, am coming
back tomorrow, what should I buy for you?".
"Mom, are you kidding me? you are coming tomorrow? are you going anywhere special today?".
" Jadah, you must be the one kidding me, have you forgotten am in s..."
she hanged up, before she could utter a word further. Perhaps she ran out of airtime. I kept my phone back.
" But what was mom wanting to tell me? I will call her later today".
I felt so much peace when mom called.  A lot has been happening lately and talking to mom in such a nice tone was therapeutic.
