Chapter 2

"I got what you asked for boss"
"So?"
"Her name is Collet Oinel she presently lives with her grandmother and her best friend in a small apartment." He reported.
"Good, now I want you to follow her and keep records of all her movements." He said.
"Uhhm sir, I also gathered that she will be celebrating her birthday in a week's time."
"I guess I'll have to come up with a little suprise for her birthday." He said and the corner of his lips pulled up slightly.

"Morning nana"Rima said cheerfully.
"How are you dear?"
"Am fine thank you."
"Collet has left for work so now's the right time to plan for her birthday."
"You're absolutely right dear so, what do you have in mind?"
"Well I suggest we throw her a suprise party."
"Superb!"
"But we have to stop her from going to work but that's the hardest thing to do nana"
"Leave that to me"

Rima went to work quite early and fortunately the rude god didn't show up. She heaved a sigh of relief and continued her day's work, there weren't slot of customers so she was able to rest abit. Her mind drifted to the week ahead of her. The day she hated the most was coming"HER BIRTHDAY" she celebrated her birthday last, thirteen years ago and she'll always continue to curse that day

               *FLASHBACK*
"Happy birthday dear"
"Thanks mom you're the best."
"Am sorry I couldn't give you a grand party but I promise to make it up to you.
"Are you kidding mom this is my best birthday ever even if dad's not here you made it special for me"
"You're so sweet..."
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"

I couldn't understand what was going on suddenly my mum screamed at me to find a place to hide and in a confused state, I found the giant teddy bear mom bought for me and hid behind it, with tears in my eyes I looked at my party it was a disaster,many people managed to escape but I saw two dead bodies on the ground that was when I remembered"MOM!".
I saw mom being dragged to the living room with injuries on her body by four hefty men.
I was about to scream and run to where she was but she signalled for me to keep quiet and stay still,I nodded in dear. And suddenly I saw the most horrible scene ever. They stripped my mom naked and each took turns in raping her. I heard my mom scream I'm agony and pain for a long time and when they were done, they left her helplessly hanging on a thread between life and death.
When I was sure they had gone, I ran to where she was, crying profusely. She told me to be strong and forget about it and she also told me to try not to hate my birthday as she was talking, her breathing became unsteady and that was when it dawned on me that mom wanted to leave me forever.
I tried to speak but the words couldn't just come out so I resorted to crying instead and she used her last strength to wipe my tears then she said
"I love you dear, always be strong for me and never give up. Happy birthday". She gave me a weak smile and that was the end.
I cried my eyes out until nana got there and took me away.

       *END OF FLASHBACK*
For the past thirteen years Collet followed exactly what her mother told her except one thing "try not to hate your birthday".
She always ends up drunk and sulking on her birthday and nana is always worries to death. Rima is actually a life saver because if she hadn't been there the whole time she would have succeeded in commiting suicide.
"But I have a feeling this year will be different so no drinking,no sulking"
"Collet"
"Yes boss..."

                           Some days later
"Nana hope everything is in order for the big day tomorrow?"
Rima asked.
"Yes, now remember what I told you"
"Yes nana... tomorrow's gonna be fun"she said excitedly

"Erris I want you to cancel all my appointments tomorrow and clear my schedule"
"But..."
"Should I teach you your job over again?"he asked slightly annoyed
"I'm sorry boss I'll do it right away"
"That's better now Skyler I want you to get prepared tomorrow, you are gonna deliver a little birthday present to my little lioness"
"Sure thing boss"
"Oh and I don't want you to get too personal with her she looks cunning"
"As you wish"he replied and left.

                        The next morning
"Morning nana,and you too Rima"Collet said
"Good morning how was your night" nana asked
"It was fine thanks"
"Are you going to work?"Rima asked
"Yes"
"Alright byee and stay out of trouble.

"What happened back there did they forget or they just decided not to bring it up? Well whatever"she said to herself.

At Collet's workplace, every thing was going smoothly until she heard her phone ring. She checked the screen and saw it was Rima
"She can't even leave me for a minute"she said smiling
"Hey bitch watsu...'
"Come home now nana just had a panic attack"Rima said on the other end of the line
"How, why..."
"Pls stop whatever you are doing and just come home "she said in between sobs.
She immediately hung up the phone and excused herself in no time,she was home
"Nana, Rima... why is everywhere so dark and where are they?"she said as she ravaged through her bag for her phone
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY"they screamed and the lights came on
"What's all this nana I thought you had a panic attack"Collet asked confused
"Well what can I say suprise!"nana replied
"This was Rima's idea right?"
"Well of course yeah"Rima chipped in
"What would I do without you two"she said hugging them
"Ok less talking and more partying" nana said.
The party was going on just fine and it was simple just like the way Collet liked it. Just then, a black SUV pulled up in front of the house and a familiar face alighted the car he was looking handsome without another person to overshadow his beauty. Skyler walked in smiling with a small pretty gift box in his hands. He entered inside gracefully and succeeded in earning stares from people
"Holy fuck he's hot"Rima said like someone lost a trance
"Oh boy here we go again...snap out of it girl" she said happy that the rude god didn't come along
"Happy birthday Collet"he said when he got to where she was and he gave her the gift box with a warm smile
"How did you know?"
"I have my ways " he said still smiling and he turned to leave
"Hey pls... "
"The name is Skyler " he replied as though he read her mind.
She thought about asking him for the rude god but she decided against it and the next thing she saw was Rima hitting on him and they seemed to get along pretty well.
"The party went well so I guess listening to mom wasn't so bad after all"she said to herself.
When the party was over, they thanked everyone and saw them off. Rim had already begun opening the gifts
"Wow look at this watch it's splendid... You got a purse ... Is this not from the pretty boy earlier?"she asked opening the box and when Collet looked inside, she saw a shocker.
Inside the box was a letter with a strange symbol on it and a white rose Collet opened the letter and
It read"Happy birthday sweet heart hope to see you soon I hope you like roses".
