Chapter 1 The Phoenix

Queen Mirelia POV

Melty and I were on our way to our reunion with the leaders of the other kingdoms to discuss how to handle the waves, when suddenly I heard something, like something fell. The carriage came to a stop and one of the guards came.

Mirelia: What happened?
Guard (stuttering): W-Well, a boy just crashed, your majesty.
Mirelia: ...What?

I got out of the carriage and told Melty to stay in. I saw that the other guards were in front of something, I made my way and saw it. It was a boy, a boy with wings on his back and... a sword?

Guard: Your majesty, what should we do?

After a moment of silence, I said

"We're taking him with us, but we need to hurry to help this boy"

Guard: As you command, your highness, you heard her boys keep up the pace!

I took the boy in my arms and got in the carriage

Melty: Mother, who is that
Mirelia: We'll ask him when he wakes up

I took this time to see his features, he had red and yellow hair, and his wings had the same pattern as well, and the sword, its sheath, I recognize it, if this boy has it then that means... no, no it can't be. I guess I'll have to ask him once he wakes up. I looked at him again and saw he had a nasty wound in his neck. Whatever this boy has gone through, it can't be good

TIMESKIP

A few hours passed by and I saw the stirring in his sleep, I went to try and wake him up, but before I do, he opened his eyes and let out a quiet gasp, he looked around and set his eyes on me and Melty and started panicking

Mirelia: Hey, it's okay, it's okay, you're safe now.

He seemed to relax but I could see the fear in his eyes

Mirelia: I am Queen Mirelia of Melromarc, and this is my daughter Melty, can you tell me your name?
???: (shakes head and points to his neck)
Mirelia: You can't talk?
???: (shakes head and looks down)
Melty: Wait, I know how to help you

Melty then grabbed a book and a pen within the compartment of the door and gave it to the boy. He took the book and started writing, after he stopped, he put the book in front of his face and we read what he wrote

???: *My name is Hinotori*
Mirelia: It's nice to meet you Hinotori. Now, if I may ask, how did you end up in the middle of nowhere?
Hinotori: *I was running away, or flying in my case*

He wrote while giving me a weak smile

Mirelia: From what?
Hinotori: *The Waves*
Mirelia: ...Is that how you lost your voice?
Hinotori: (slowly nods)
Mirelia: (sigh)... I see. Now, how did you came up with that sword?
Hinotori: *Lord Seaetto... he gave it to me. He said that I'm what remains of Seaetto and that I have to carry its legacy*

After I read that, I saw that he was tearing up, so I pulled him into a hug. At first he was shocked, but then he slowly accepted my embrace and silently cried on my shoulder. I knew that people lost friends and family because of the Waves, but he lost everything he had. I backed up a bit and saw that he was asleep. I sit back down and put his head in my lap and started rubbing his head.

Melty: He must've been through a lot of stuff if he cried like that
Mirelia: That's one of the many consequences of the Waves, it can leave scars in many ways. That's why we need to hurry to the other leaders, to prevent from others going through the same thing Hinotori went through.
Melty: And what will happen to him?
Mirelia: We will look after him, of course.
Melty: What? Why?
Mirelia: Because he doesn't have anyone, he is alone, and even if we found someone who could look after him, the same thing could happena again, or he could go through something worse given that he is a demi-human.
Melty: ...That's true. Thank the gods sister isn't here, she would've just left him for dead.
Mirelia: ...Yeah. That's why you're next to the throne Melty, you're more compassionate than her.
