Interview with Addy12!!!

Start from the beginning

10) When you have writers block, what do you do?

I try to leave my story alone and go do something.  I like going out for a run because I let go of everything.  If nothing comes then I go and read a book or hang out with friends.  I need to do something to get my mind off of my story because if I don't then I dwell on my story and it never goes anywhere.  Eventually, I get a burst of inspiration and suddenly I don't have writer's block anymore.  I just get an idea and start writing.  Sometimes, it takes a life of its own and my writing isn't originally what I had planned.

11) Are any of your stories based on real life events that have happened to you, or someone else?

Haha.  Yes, don't we as writers base some true of our life into our stories?  Escaping Death is what I wanted my life to be like.  My best friend left when we finished middle school.  He was sure that he was going to go to the same high school as I was in the fall but when school came around he never came back.  I never found out what happened to him and I was heartbroken.  He never said goodbye and I always wished that he'd come back some day.  My ideas of where he could possibly be and what could have caused him to go away is the product of my story.  I have a very over active imagination as you will see if you ever get the chance to read Escaping Death.  Plus, wouldn't it be cool if the guy I loved turned out to have super cool awesome powers?

12) Are any of your real life friends, fans of yours on Wattpad?

Yes, my best friend Rachel.  She's a big help with my story Escaping Death.  I always go to her and tell her what I'm planning to do with it and she's there to listen and offer her opinion.  I love that I can just go and sit down with her and let my ideas flow by talking to someone about it.  Most people wouldn't care but she does and I really am thankful for having a friend like her in my life :) She is the best!  I have other friends at school who have said that they've read my story but they aren't on Wattpad.

13) When you get hate mail, what is your reaction?

I've never gotten hate mail.....so I wouldn't know.  But I'd probably be upset....

14) What advice would you give to other Wattpad members not on the What's Hot List?

I would tell them to keep on writing anyways.  Most of the time my stories aren't on the What's Hot List but I don't stop writing.  I really don't care if my story is popular or not.  I care that people who have read my story love it and just because its not on the What's Hot List doesn't mean that its not a good story.  I think that they just publize their stories better.  Don't worry about it if your not on the List...if you have loyal and dedicated fans than you should be proud and happy that people do love your story :)) Keep on writing and don't give up...eventually you'll get to the top and you never know...some of those writers may have had trouble getting to the top but it took a lot of hardwork for them to get up there.  So again I say....don't worry about it! Just write and have faith in yourself that you are a great writer and not being on the list doesn't mean that people don't like your story; just that many haven't gotten the chance to read it :D

15) Do you LOVE writing? Or it it okay?

I love writing! Absolutely love it! Of course, I have to be in the mood to write.  I didn't start out by writing stories.  The first thing I ever wrote were lyrics the summer I was going into high school.  I didn't start writing stories until my sophomore year.  I wrote a lot of lyrics before I ever started writing stories and at first I wasn't very enthusiastic about it but then I got really passionate as my story progressed and my characters took a life of their own.  I also love writing quotes or poems that I love down i my journal. (I love journals! I have like 10 of them...all with different stuff in it!)  I also write down my the lyrics of my favorite songs.  So yes, I LOVE to write.  I love writing everything :))

16) Which of your stories would you recomend a new Wattpad member to read first?

Well, I really recommend people to read Escaping Death.  It is really long but I promise that it's good or so I've heard :) But if you guys don't want to sit dwn and read that story then you should read Second Chances.  It's just two parts right now but you won't get to much in depth with the characters like in Escaping Death. Hmm...go with Escaping Death if you have time to read it or read it by parts :)

17) How long does it  take you to write a 3 paged chapter?

Hours.  I don't even realize where the time has gone but when I look at the clock I realize that I've spent like 3 hours writing.  I don't see how many pages I write but sometimes its more than I planned for.  I take a lot of time deciding what the chapter is trying to convey.  I honestly erase the same sentence a few times because it isn't working out.  It's very hard when I'm writing the guy's pov because I'm not a guy and I have no idea how they think or act.  I'm afraid that he'll come off as a coward and not strong and masculine as I see him in my head.  So its very hard having to sit down and write in the perspective of a guy.  Sometimes, its even frustrating but I leave it alone and eventually it starts to flow after a while.  Writing takes time and patience but when you are in the zone then it's easier but it still takes a lot of time trying to get it right and to my liking and hopefully it appeals to the readers :)

18) Do you get your inspriation from something, someone, or somewhere?

Well, the reason that I started to write in the first place was because of someone.  The lyrics I wrote were about a guy who left and I never saw him again.  My lyrics were about letting go and trying to move on but it never worked.  I know its stupid for a guy to have had such a huge effect on my life but he was one of my best friends and he just left.  There's inspiration everywhere and I love using scenery as part of the story like the sun, moon, stars, trees, ect.

19) Are your characters names made up, or based on someone?

My character Gabriel from Escaping Death is based on the first guy I fell in love with.  He was my best friend and he liked me for who I was and not for what I looked like and it meant a lot to me.  I'm very self-conscience about how I look but he never said anything about it.  My character Gwen......well I don't know about that one.  I would like to say that maybe she's me but I'm not entirely sure.  Gwen's friends are based on some of my friends in real life.  The rest of the characters are entirely made up from my imagination :)

20) Do you think you will be a real author someday?

I really hope to be.  Being an author is something I have been dreaming of since I really began to get passionate about my writing.  I want to publish one of my stories by my mid twenties and I'm hoping that it happens.  I'll have to work hard and promote my writing to possible publishing companie and I'm ready to work for it because it doesn't just come by wishing and hoping.  I have to make it happen.
