JUNGKOOK POV

I couldn't believe it.

My true mate had left me.

Even after I told him we were mates, he had still left me.

He hadn't even acknowledged that we were true mates.

He had acted like he could take the idea or leave it, like he didn't care about that sacred bond between us.

Considering he was so accepting of his father's infidelity with Jin, maybe he didn't care.

Maybe it meant nothing to him.

"Sir." Tai said from the doorway.

"they've arrived at the hotel."

I clenched my jaw and breathed in deep through my nose before replying.

"Make sure they guard my
mate but from a distance."

"I doubt he's going to agree to have bodyguards."

I had gotten the impression that my mate had a mind of his own and he wasn't afraid to use it.

He'd certainly surprised me and in more way than one.

"I need to issue a formal apology to Lord and Lady Park as well as their...uh...friend Jin."

I was no longer sure what he was, except loved and adored
by my mate.

Tai's eyebrows lifted. "A formal apology, sir?"

Yes, it was rare so I understood the shock lacing Tai's voice.

I never apologized, mostly because I was never wrong.

I just usually took the time to learn about a situation and
weigh my options before acting.

This time, I had totally fucked up.

"I also need to send a letter to Prince Kim informing him of
my insult to one of his vampires and offering restitution."

"Sir—"

I held up my hand to keep Tai from saying more.

"I know what you're going to
say but don't."

"I dug this hole for myself, It's
up to me to dig myself out of it."

I, more than anyone was fully aware that I could be opening myself up to a whole slew of sanctions if the vampire prince wanted to press the issue and he had every right to.

I hadn't even thought about ensuring Jin had blood so he could feed.

My only concern had been to
get him away from Lord Park
and ultimately, my mate.

I walked over to the sideboard and poured myself a glass of whiskey.

I usually wasn't much of a drinker but times like this called for it.

It didn't help that gryphons burned off most of the alcohol before it reached our system.

I'd have to drink the entire
bottle to even feel a buzz.

I just wanted a small drink to clear my mind.

"I need to know more about
my mate, Tai."

"The reports, sir—"

"Tell me nothing."

Oh sure, they gave me his age, his occupation, where he lived and stuff like that.

They did not tell me about the man himself, what he liked or disliked or what he wanted out
of life. What his dreams were.

I didn't even know if he was dating anyone.
