I'm With You (Aizawa x OC)

Chapter Twelve

"Oh? How would you know that?"

Mei looks around nervously, clearing her throat before leaning forward towards Kazu. "Because you're not the only omega on campus." She smirks.

Again, Kazu was stunned, her green eyes blown wide from the revelation. "You're an omega?"

Mei quickly closed the distance between them, pressing a finger to her own lips, telling Kazu to lower her voice. "Shush!!! No one here knows."

Kazu grimaced as she looked around quickly to make sure no one was in earshot of their conversation. "Sorry!" She whispers.

She looked back at the girl in front of her. She was small and petite. If she truly was an omega, how did she even get here?

"If you're an omega, how did you get into a hero school?" Kazu asks skeptically, looking her up and down.

Mei laughs lightheartedly, seeming to have expected such a question to be brought up. "It wasn't easy. I had my doubts. But at the end of the day, I passed the entrance exam and was accepted into Class 1-A all on my own. The summer before we trained was tough, but my boyfriend stuck by my side and encouraged me every step of the way. I may be an omega, but I've always wanted to save people. My quirk is powerful, and with Mr. Aizawa's help, I know I can become a great hero one day."

Kazu's expression morphed into one of pure awe. "Does Mr. Aizawa know you're an omega?"

"Yes he does. All the teachers do. And even some officials out there. I've actually been requested for a mission because of my sub gender."

"If the teachers and officials know, why don't your classmates?" Kazu narrowed her eyes in speculation. Class 2-A had several alphas enrolled and this girl has been hanging closely around them with no one discovering her?

Mei pauses before rubbing the back of her neck. "Well....high school is hard enough....I didn't want people to treat me differently if they knew. Would my classmates hold back when facing me? I want to do my best as Mei Mitsudo, and not as an omega. The only classmate who knows is my boyfriend. And we plan to bond once we graduate."

Kazu was taken back by Mei's statement. She crossed her arms across her chest as a low scoff flew from her lips. "Why would you want to bond with someone in such a risky profession? Do you realize what would happen to you, or to them, if you were to get killed?"

This time, Mei was taken back by Kazu's words. Her eyes slightly widened in surprise. "I mean...yeah? But when you love someone, isn't it worth being with them for the time you have? Even if it's for a little while?"

Kazu furrows her eyebrows in thought. "You would be willing to take that risk, even at the possibility of losing them?"

"It's not ideal to lose someone you love. And sure, it'll suck if something does happen. But...I wouldn't want to lose any of my friends. We don't plan for things to happen, so why live in the what if? How much will I miss if I was always trying to prepare for the worst?"

Kazu hums in acknowledgement to Mei's statement. "I...guess you're right."

It was baffling that this young omega, a hero in training, could be so wise. She was no more than 16, but she had such a positive outlook on her life as an omega. Mei made the decision to not let her sub gender determine her future, so what was truly holding Kazu back?

She thought back on Aizawa and how much she really began to enjoy being around the gruff alpha. Kazu got the chance to briefly see past his rough exterior and get to know a little bit about Shota Aizawa the man, rather than the pro-hero.

"How do you know if you're making the right decision?"

Mei pursed her lips, tilting her head to the side as she thought about what she wanted to say. Sighing, she began to walk back to her mug she had placed on the counter. After another moment of silence, she looked up to Kazu. "I guess I won't know. But I'm okay with that. I know I love him and he loves me. What else is there to worry about?"
