SHUBMAN'S POV

I have an interview.
There is nothing special about it.
Except...
The interviewer.

Arshpreet. Arshpreet Kaur Dhillon.

We happened to meet few years ago in 2020 IPL matches.
Our social media manager took a break when Arshpreet took over for a season.

She became friends with everyone easily. While that was common for her, it wasn't to me.
Sure, I am a friendly guy but to actually consider someone my friend? It takes a lot of time. We became good friends.

But now? I am not sure actually.
Is she my friend? Or do I want her to be something else?
Maybe more than a friend?

These thoughts are killing me and I have to see her.
I keep thinking about her but she doesn't even have an idea.

Arshpreet: You? Ready?
Me: Yeah.
Um- what is the topic?
Arshpreet: What? We went through this yesterday, Shub.
I told you this yesterday. You are not paying attention to me.
Me: I am. I am. I just need to know this once more.

I am not paying attention.
Even now.
Shit. I need to.
One thing anyone will agree with me is that don't ever make her angry.

Arshpreet: Your social media.
Now, go. Change.
Me: Um- I am changed.
Arshpreet: This is what you will wear?
Me: Yeah..?
Arshpreet: Good.

What just happened? I thought she is asking me to change.

Arshpreet: Your media looks like it's a fashion world. People need to know how someone actually looks.
Let's go with no makeup guys.

She announced.

Cameraman: I am all up for this natural beauty campaign but lighting.

He sounded annoyed.

Arshpreet: Your problem.

That's all. Just like that.

We started the interview. Without any makeup I must add.
Even though our cameraman sounded angry and glared at her, he understood the reason and it's importance.

We were done for the day soon and we were about to head out for lunch when my bestfriends, now ex- bestfriends, called us from behind.

Abhay: We will tag along.
Ishaan: Why would you want to go out with him for lunch, Arshpreet? We are here. The fun batch.
Kamlesh: And where is that friend of yours, Neel Sharma?
Me: I am going to kill you people.
Ishaan: No shit. I am terrified.
Arshpreet: Because he is a good person and can have fun too. And She isn't joining us.
Me: Thankyou!

Me and Arshpreet always spent more time together because well, I like her and didn't ever leave her side.
She once, practically had to push me, so that I will leave.
And I didn't leave. Even then.

Arshpreet: You guys have a match tomorrow. How does it feel?
Abhay: I am actually terrified.

It's his first ODI.

Arshpreet: You will be absolutely fine.
They wouldn't have chosen you if they didn't think you would be good.

And that day went on.

Next day.....

ARSHPREET'S POV

I got an opportunity in TOI
This is once in a life time opportunity and I couldn't be happier.
While this is what I am feeling, I will also miss these guys.
They became my family.
Well not literal family, but we got super close.

Today might be the last day I will attend their match because I need to leave tomorrow.
I dragged this as long as I can.
I didn't tell them when I knew about this opportunity.
I knew it a month ago. But I didn't tell them.
I was afraid there would be a change in our dynamic but here I am, today, wanting to tell them. After the match.
