Shubman's POV

Three years ago, I did a mistake that made my family's attention turn from me to an outsider.
No, I don't have a girlfriend. Even that would've been better.
But no. She is a woman I met while I was playing for KKR.

Our teams had to travel in two different flights due to some unforeseen reasons so our coach, along with all the players were said to board one flight. We were going from Mumbai to Kolkata.

Doctors, physiotherapists and everyone else were in another flight.
Rinku suddenly felt a pain in his thumb and we needed an immediate attention to that.

Air hostess announced it and then came in a character named Navya.
I remember Rinku looking at her like she was an angel.
No, not because she was about to takecare of him. It's because he thought she was beautiful.
Everyone of us did but we were more subtle I guess.

Anyway, she did something and guess what! His thumb did get alright.

By the time we landed in Kolkata he was feeling as good as new.
Rinku wanted to introduce her to the team but she was in a hurry and left.
If he had his way, she would have made it onto his insta page.

When we went to the hotel, our parents and my sister were already waiting for us.
You guessed it right. All Rinky could talk about was that woman who helped him.

'She was wearing white and looked ethereal. She was a literal angel. It's a pity you guys couldn't meet her'
This was his dialogue.

Then my dearest sister gave him an idea. She told him to search for her Instagram id. She told him something is better than nothing.
I had no idea he would actually find the woman but he did.

He invited her over to a match. She accepted it and that's how my family met her.
Meeting my family is fine but she became a part of it.

This woman is cunning, I tell you.

We are currently waiting for that Rani sa to enter so we can start eating.
I haven't had breakfast and I am hungry but my family couldn't care less about that.

'Five minutes and Navya will be here' my mom keeps saying.
It's time like this that I regret thinking of Navya as my friend.

"She is here. She is here" Shaneel comes in, shouting.
I swear she behaves like a four year old, waiting for chocolates when Navya comes in.

"Helloo!!" Navya screams making me shut my ears off in process.
Greetings later, she bestows me with her attention.
"Are you cranky? You are cranky. Why are you cranky?"
I just shoot a glare and she nods.
"You haven't been fed"
I huff out a breath.
Haven't been fed? What am I? A dog?

"I texted Keart aunt that I am going to be late and you should eat"
She shows me her text.
I look at mom who just shrugs and gets into kitchen.
I cannot even shout at that woman.
One, she is mom. Respect and two, she is preparing parathas today.

"You will be fed, Shub. Now calm down"
She ruffles my hair.
I catch her by her wrist before pulling her onto the chair beside mine.
"Shut up" I warn but as always, she just laughs.

I am never angry. I don't usually get angry. It takes lots of efforts to make me angry. So whenever I am actually angry, people don't interfere. It seems I am mean when I am mad. But she has no care.
She keep ruffling my feathers like I didn't just shout on her.

She came on to this earth to just give me blood pressure. Well that and to help people but that's a different story.

"Take it" mom gives a paratha to me and I dig in.
My mom should make parathas and I should eat.
