The world had always been a distant blur to Taehyung-something he observed from behind a thick glass, never quite stepping in. He existed, but he never truly lived. People admired him from afar, whispered his name like he was some untouchable myster...
Yet, that indifference only made people crave it more.
The whispers started immediately.
"He's so good-looking..." "Even when he walks, he looks like a model." "I swear, he gets hotter every day."
Taehyung ignored them all. He always did.
Without a glance at anyone, he strode to his usual seat at the back-his sanctuary, the one spot no one dared to claim.
Ms. Sooha cleared her throat. "As I was saying, Y/N, you'll be sitting beside Taehyung for now."
Y/N's stomach twisted. Him?
Unease prickled at her skin, but she gave a small nod, making her way to the back. The moment she approached, the air felt heavier-thick with something unspoken.
She pulled out the chair, aware of the countless stares boring into her, waiting for a reaction from either of them.
And that's when she felt it.
A gaze-intense, unreadable.
Slowly, she lifted her eyes.
Their gazes collided.
The world around them dulled into silence.
His dark, sharp eyes locked onto hers, unwavering, as if searching for something. There was no warmth in them, no curiosity-just a quiet challenge.
Most people would shrink under that stare. She didn't.
Y/N held her ground, refusing to be the first to look away.
A flicker of something passed through his gaze-surprise? Amusement? It was gone too quickly to tell.
Then, just as quickly as it had begun, he looked away, his attention returning to the window, as if she were nothing more than a passing moment.
But Y/N knew better.
Because for the first time, Kim Taehyung had acknowledged someone.
And for some reason, it was her.
Taehyung never allowed anyone near him. Anyone who had tried was swiftly turned away. But Y/N? She was different. Not only was she still sitting beside him, but he had chosen to let her stay.
Meanwhile, Y/N remained oblivious to the storm she had unknowingly caused. Focused on decorating her notes with colorful sharpies, she paid no attention to the hushed murmurs and puzzled stares.
Days passed, and Taehyung found himself increasingly aware of her presence. The way she quietly scribbled in her notebook, the way she never attempted to talk to him unless necessary-it gnawed at him.
From then on, their interactions remained minimal, yet something had shifted. Taehyung was always the one to start conversations, and Y/N's responses were always brief. But he didn't mind. He just wanted to break through her protective shell, to make her feel comfortable around him.
He had been drawn to her from the moment he saw her.
And Y/N, though hesitant to admit it, felt the same.
Taehyung treated her differently than everyone else. He was cold to the world but softened around her. She, too, was different around him. Something about him made her flustered, made her heart race in a way she had never experienced before.
Neither of them acknowledged their feelings, both too afraid to cross a line they couldn't return from.

"There are people who shine like the sun, drawing others in with warmth. Then, there are those like the moon-distant, untouchable, admired from afar. But even the coldest night cannot resist the pull of gravity forever."
