"Oh hello there," The young woman says sweetly.
"Um hi?" Martrez says nervously.
"I hope I didn't disturb you, I was just jogging and found this, I believe it belongs to someone who lives here." The woman says pulling out a familiar silver cross necklace.
"Oh yeah, that's my little brother's he would've freaked out if he didn't find this," Martrez says grabbing it from the woman.
"Who's at the door Martrez?" Oscar shouts from inside.
"One second," Martrez says popping back into the room for a minute.
"Of course." The woman said waiting patiently at the door.
"Hey, big head you dropped something," Martrez says tossing the necklace at Oscar.
"Fuck must've lost it while I was fighting, where you find it?" Oscar asks slipping it back onto his neck.
"Some lady returned it," Martrez says walking back to the door.
"Hey um, I wanted to thank you again," Martrez says nervously
"Of course well but I should get going." She says looking down the hallway.
"Oh yeah see you around I guess," Martrez says watching her walk down the hallways.
"Oh no I don't live here I was just in the neighborhood." She says turning to look at him. Martrez blinks his eyes hard because one of her eyes almost looked completely black.
"Ah well see you," Martrez says waving slowly. Suddenly I familiar face turns into the hallway.
"Hey, Wade I was gonna ask if we could-" Martrez smiles nervously
"No," Wade says flatly
"W-What?" Martrez stutters.
"No," Wade repeats.
"You don't even know what I was gonna ask you," Martrez says with a nervous chuckle.
"You're gonna ask if you can get more time to pay your rent," Wade states bluntly.
"Um..." Martez rubs the back of his head.
"Honestly your mother shouldn't leave you home alone like this if you can't even keep up a simple task," Wade says crossing his arms.
"Hey man, it's not her fault she's on a business trip," Martrez says defensively.
"Whatever look either come down with the money now, or you and your friends will have to find somewhere else to crash or call your mother," Wade says.
"Man look will have the money we're just $60 short!" Oscar shouts coming to the door. Oscar knows he may be younger than Martrez but he's not gonna let any brother of his get bashed. This commotion gets the attention of a lingering newcomer.
"Fine, but I better see one of y'all down here in 20 minutes," Wade says walking back down the hall and past the woman watching this unfold.
