Daphne Everlark had totally bad luck!

I mean, come on now. The girl totally survived three and a half years on the run with just her wits (and three lackeys, of course!) and she got brought down by a monster before she could even make it to Camp? So lame. At least she could hide her embarrassment with the dirt they'd bury her under...

Oh, but could her luck get any worse than surviving death? She wasn't supposed to live, that much was so sure. The gods wouldn't let her forget it, of course, but how could they? It wasn't like immortal beings not to hold a grudge.

(Yeah...that must've been the reason why her mother refused to claim her. Of course. Gods, how embarrassing of a child do you have to be to be rejected by all-powerful beings and simultaneously watched by them because of something that just... happened?)

Whatever. It wasn't news that the Gods weren't on her side. She didn't need them there, anyway. She had her sidekicks (but if anything, she was more of a sidekick to them on their various quests) and it was truly all she needed.
