Oh, how Jay regretted not getting flung off of the roof of the Garmadons' treehouse. 'Mom.'
If Nya was embarrassed as he was, she certainly wasn't showing it. She played along, saying, 'It's a pleasure meeting you. I'm sure if you want, Jay can give you a tour? He's worked very hard on it.'
'We'd love to!'
Definitely regretting not getting thrown off the roof. It's gonna be a long day.

'And this is the bridge. This here extends into a periscope,' Jay explained, jumping over to the device and peering through the holes. 'It tells us what's going on in Ninjago. And this...' He walked over to a strange machine. 'If a Serpentine's not giving us the answers we want, and it's late at night—'
'A neuro apparatus to read their minds?!'
'An audio appliance to make them talk?'
Jay looked blithely at his mother and father. 'Nope. Cappuccino machine.' He flicked a switch and put a cup under the dispenser. Moments later, he was holding a fresh-brewed cup of coffee and a smug look on his face.
Ed beamed, 'Amazing, son! We're so proud of you.'
'Why don't you tell them about the button?' Cole called from across the room.
Jay laughed between clenched teeth. He should really stop doing that. There weren't any dentists this far out. 'Oh, maybe just because it's not ready yet.'
Edna clapped her hands together. 'The button! What's the button?'
'He's working on a special defence system,' Zane said, joining them on the bridge.
Kai jerked his head in a nod. 'A ninja headquarter necessity.'
'Oho, really?' Ed inched closer towards the button, bright-eyed and eager. 'What's it do? Can I help?'
Jay shooed his father away, protecting the button and protesting, 'No, no, no. It's OK. Don't need your help, Dad. Let's just leave it alone for now.' He checked an invisible watch on his wrist. 'Oh, look at the time! Don't you need to get back before it gets dark? Lots of dangerous Serpentine out there. Should probably get going.'
He was practically pushing his parents out of the door, ignoring all the harsh looks the other ninja were giving him. 'I, uh, suppose we could get back,' Ed muttered.
'Edna,' Cole sniggered, 'it was a pleasure hearing about Jay's first potty time.'
She lit up. 'Oh, if you thought that was good, wait until you hear about the time I caught him kissing his pillow!'
'Snakes, Ma! Snakes!'
'We're going, we're going.'
They clambered into their handmade car, starting the engine with a spectacular roar. 'So you promise to come to the junkyard to visit your mother and father?' Edna shouted over the rumbling.
'Yes, yes, I promise, but you have to leave!' Kai smacked Jay's shoulder, snapped something about "being nice" and he winced. 'I don't want you to get hurt. It's getting dark, and snakes, and... uh, your headlights are still working, right?'
