Mitch Benson was born in Windsor, Ontario and is the son of Richard and Linda Benson. Mitch came to Colgate in August of 2018 and was an immediate starter because of the departure of Colton Point. Benson started 33 games as a freshman where he recorded a 2.76 goals against average and a .911 save percentage and he also lead ECAC Hockey in total saves. As a sophomore, Benson appeared in eighteen games where he recorded a 2.08 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. Benson did not play in the COVID shortened season which was really unfortunate to see Mitch miss an entire season. As a technical senior, Mitch Benson played in 20 games and had a 2.39 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Speaking of Mitch Benson, he's now playing for Boston College. Majoring in biology, Benson graduated in May of 2022. Mitch wore number one all four years in Hamilton!
