119 | The Night of Nights

Start from the beginning

You are peace to the restless soul. Peace when my thoughts wage war.

It's okay to have a war going on in your mind, God reminded me. There's a peace far beyond all understanding.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

I listened to the song in my head. You are peace to the restless soul, peace when my thoughts wage war, peace to the anxious heart, that's who You are, that's who You are. You are peace when my fear takes hold, peace when I feel enclosed, peace when I lose control, that's who You are, that's who You are~

I smiled, and let the peace when my thoughts wage war.

There's a peace far beyond all understanding
May it ever set my heart at ease
Dare anxiety come, I'll remember
That peace is a promise You keep
Peace is a promise You keep

Your word remains truth
Even when my mind wreaks havoc

I smiled, knowing His angels were guarding me tonight no matter what I do. I was free to move, free to dance, free to sing, free to shout--but not too loud as to wake the neighbors. I didn't need anybody looking at me like I'm a mad man. I just wanted to enjoy the presence of the Lord.

I've found peace far beyond all understanding
Let it flow when my mind's under siege
All anxiety bows in the presence
Of Jesus the Keeper of Peace
And peace is a promise He keeps

I felt myself drift to a heavy sleep.

I dreamt of a dreamy place that night. Of a garden and butterflies. Of a cliff that overlooked a beautiful deep ocean below. I dreamt of highlands and blue skies. A place where the Lord would like to take me. I felt like a pilgrim on a journey. But I wasn't alone. I saw myself in a carriage going deep into a dark forest, I was with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was on the wheel, I sat across the Holy Spirit and God the Father was beside Him. Though many enchantments surround my way, I fear no evil. For He is with me.

Never mind the attackers, He reassured me. They can't touch you.

I knew there was a verse like that somewhere. I just couldn't remember where.

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[]
2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, "The Lord is my refuge,"
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he[] loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

I needed this. Because tomorrow was a new day, a new battle. And I needed all the strength I could get from Him.

(Matthew 6:25-34)

Do Not Worry

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[]?

28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
