Severing Ties

Eddie's Pov

He looks over at Y/N as she stares out the car window, a soft smile coming to his lips. She was still learning but she had come so far in the last month. She was learning well on how to settle into life again and he was so proud of her for it. He turns his attention back to the road.

"I helped free him," Eddie comments out loud.

"Hm?" Y/N hums, looking over at him.

"Giovanni. He's the owner and chef of his place. He was in jail for a crime he didn't commit and my evidence freed him," Eddie explains.

"What was he accused of?" She asks with curiosity.

"Murdering his friend. They had a disagreement and he was on his way to apologize. The guys wife flipped out and accused Giovanni of the murder. He was in prison for three years," Eddie explains. "I had to do research and found some paper trails. Turns out his wife had previous husbands who all were murdered. His wife was backing a corrupt politician and I found the dirt on all of them."

"Do you just make a habit of saving people?" She teases him with a laugh. "I'm glad you rescued him. And me too. Thank you."

"Any time," Eddie chuckles.

They pull into a parking spot in Giovanni's before getting out, Eddie offering Y/N his arm. They enter and the chef the place was named after comes bursting from the kitchen. Y/N practically jumps out of her skin and hides behind Eddie, Giovanni's eyes widening as he quickly slows down.

"My apologies miss. Ya see, Eddie is the reason I have this and I was so excited to see my old friend after so long," He tells her.

"It's okay Y/N. This is Giovanni, the guy I told you about on the way here," Eddie explains. "Sorry, she's jumpy. She has some trauma."

"Ah I can understand," Giovanni says gently. "Come, your 'guests' aren't here yet. Y/N, want to come taste a new dish I've made? I haven't shown it to anyone yet and it's the first trial."

"Really?" She asks. "You'd let me do that?"

"A friend of Eddie's is a friend of mine. Besides, with how much he talks about you it's easy to see you're a good person," Giovanni smiles. "Come along!"

The three are led into the kitchen and Venom pops up on Eddie's shoulder.

"Don't leave me out!" Venom announces. "I've been dying for your food all day!"

"Venom my boy! It's so good to see you! Here, try these chocolate desserts while Eddie and Y/N try my soup. It's Vegan so you won't like," Giovanni explains.

"Good enough for me!" Venom grins, diving into the desserts while Giovanni brings over two small bowls for Eddie and Y/N.

"It's vegan chili. Tastes like it has beef in it but it doesn't!" Giovanni explains. "It's spicy but not too bad. How's it taste?"

"This is amazing!" Y/N gasps after downing her bowl, Giovanni giving her a huge grin. "You should add some green chili too. My mom always would and it adds a unique flavor."

"Green chili? I'll mix some canned ones in. You'll try it again before you leave?" Giovanni asks.

"Eddie?" Y/N asks, looking up at him.

"We would love to," He grins. "Thanks for feeding Venom too. Not many people know about him."

"Of course. Come, I'll take you to your table, Giovanni smiles, leading the three of them out, Venom hiding again.

Eddie and Y/N settle at the table and get drinks, looking over the menu together. Eddie chuckles as she looks over everything with wide eyes, pausing when she gets to the burgers. She bites her lip and looks at Eddie when she's chosen one, a smile on his lips as he nods his head.
