                      ~Rachel's POV~

I stayed up there with Ranboo until the sun started to set.

"I must leave" I whisper

"I'll walk to the wall with you" he smiled.

We made our way down the many flights of stairs, taking our time, enjoying each other's company.

When we got to the wall, he got ready to lift me over, then he walked away.

"Where are you going" I yell to him.

He comes back with a beautiful purple flower.

"Come back tomorrow night" he says, placing it in my hair.

I blush slightly.

"Of course" I smile

He lifts me over the wall and I make my decent back home.

When I get through the door, my mother is cooking dinner.

"Perfect timing" she smiles, placing a bowl of soup in front of me.

I smile and eat the soup, my mind continuously drifting to Ranboo.

The way he delicately put the flower in my hair, making sure not to hurt me. The way he brought me throughout his castle, not a care in the world. His smile was contagious.

I finish my food and go back to my room.

I take the flower out of my hair and place it in a vase I found under my dresser. I fill it with water and I get ready for bed. I was happy in this world, wherever I was.

~few week time skip~

We had a routine. Every morning I'd get a letter, everyday I'd sneak away into his castle. When I left, he'd give me a flower and I'd put it in the vase. Everyday he had something planned, everyday a surprise.

I woke up this morning to rain outside my window. I sighed and got out of bed.

I grabbed the letter from the table, read it, ate, and left. My mother wasn't here so I left a note saying I was out.

I made my way through the rain, getting incredibly wet as I walked. As I arrived, I saw Ranboo in the same spot he was always in.

"Hello" he smiled, grabbing my hand and pulling me inside.

"Hello" I smile, staring deeply into his eyes.

"It's raining. We're staying inside today" he lead me to the ballroom.

"I can see that it's raining" I giggled.

He walked over to the music player and played a song.

I gasped.

"Oh Ranboo you remembered" I giggle, wringing my wet dress out.

The song that we danced to at the ball was playing.

He held out his hand.

"May I have this dance" he smiled.

"Of course your highness" I giggle, taking his hand.

We danced around the empty ballroom. Laughing and talking, having the time of our lives.

"You're fun to talk to" he smiles

"So are you" I smile.

I sigh, remembering the circumstances.

"We can't be doing this" I step away.

"Doing what?"

"Sneaking around like this. God Ranboo, you're supposed to marry a princess in a few months"

"We'll be fine Rachel" he reassures, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"No we won't. Why are we doing this?" I look at him, tears forming in my eyes.

"Where is this coming from?"

"I.. don't know" I look down

There was silence.

"Why. Why are you asking me to sneak out and come see you"

He stayed silent.

"God Ranboo answer me" I raise my voice.

"I can't tell you."

"I have to leave" I walk away.

Luckily, after weeks of visiting, I knew my way around.

"Rachel wait please" he followed me.

I made it to the garden and went to the whole in the wall.

"Last chance. Am I just a distraction? Why are we doing this"

His eyes started to tear up, yet he stayed silent.

"Why." I crawl through the hole

I started the walk home. This is too much.

                      ~Ranboos POV~

I stood there shocked. Why'd she just leave?

I sighed and walked back inside. Once I got to my room I sat down on my bed. I just started thinking long and hard.

I frowned when I came to the realization.

I can't keep doing this. I have to find a suitable wife and get rid of any feelings for Rachel I may have.

Tears rolled down my face as I wrote a letter.

Dearest Rachel,

You're right. I need to marry a princess. It'd be best if we stopped this. I do hope to see you again someday.

Love,
Your prince.

A teardrop fell on the paper as I folded it and went downstairs to put it in the bag.

I went to my father's room.

"Father" I knocked and walked in.

"Tomorrow I want to look over potential brides" I spat out, tears still rolling down my face.

"Excellent. Get some rest." He dismissed me and I left.

This was it.
