Mom and I payed for the dress and left the store. It was really hot out so I was sweating and being under this many layers wasn't helping.

"Oh what a shame" mom said, glancing into the courtroom.

"What?"

"That young girl is being trialed"

"Oh" I looked closer and saw it was the same girl from earlier.

"That is a shame"

"Poor girl" my mom sighed, walking back home.

"When is the ball?"

"8 tonight. Be sure to be punctual"

"Of course" I smile. I could get used to this.

"Go get ready. You have three hours until you have to leave."

I grabbed my dress and went upstairs to my room. I put it on again and stared at myself.

I felt pretty.

I put my hair into a neat bun and walked downstairs.

"Lori left you a package dear" my mom said, pointing at the small box on the table.

My curiosity had been peaked.

I open the box to see a beautiful set of gloves with a note that read;

Dearest Rachel,

I hope you are feeling better. Here are some gloves that match mine. See you at the ball.

Your friend,
Lori

I smiled and examined the gloves. They would go great with my dress.

I put them on and waited for my mom to get ready.

She came downstairs with a beautiful dress and neat hair.

"Let's go darling" she smiled, opening the door.

It was a long travel to the palace and and even longer line to get in.

When we got into the ballroom, it was decorated beautifully. Black and white decorations with hints of red and green. There must of been thousands of people waiting to meet the prince.

Eventually they called all potential brides to step forward. Lori and I got into line and chatted the whole time.

I have to admit, I was nervous.

It was finally my turn and I was introduced and I curtsied, trying to get a good look at the prince.

I walked back to the drinks and got sole water.

"Wanna dance?" a mans voice spoke.

I turned around to see Tyler.

"No thank you. Go dance with Lori"

"You're prettier" he shrugged

"No. Go away" I walked away but he followed.

"I said no Tyler." I turned around to face him.

He grabbed my hand and tried to drag me to the middle. I broke free and went over to Lori.

"Tyler! Let's dance!" she spoke, winking at me and dragging him to the center.

I mouthed thank you and leaned against the wall.

After a few minutes of silence, I was interrupted.

"Wanna dance" I heard a voice say

"God Tyler. Weren't you just with Lori? Go away I don't want to dance." I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Who's Tyler" the voice chuckled.

I turned around and was faced with a tall man.

"Oh hello"
