Melinda

Hearing a knock on the cockpit door, Melinda knows it's either Coulson or Simmons. Skye is sleeping of the effects of the Asgardian weapon, so she usually sees her later in the evenings. Turning her head, she looks towards the door, waiting for it to open. When it doesn't, Melinda rolls her eyes.

"You can come in Simmons."

The younger agent has been trying to talk to her for a while now, but every time Simmons have been about to ask her what ever is on her mind, something else has come up. This is the only time she will learn what the other woman wishes to speak about, even if she has an idea of what it can be. Seeing how the door opens and Simmons looks into the room, Melinda nods her head, a clear signal she should enter. Seeing that Simmons is looking slightly worried as she enters, Melinda guess this has to do with Skye. 

"Agent May."

Simmons finally speaks, the door closing behind her. Nodding her head towards the co-piolet seat, Simmons quickly moves towards it, sitting down. Silence falls over the room and Melinda decides to stay silent, it's better to just let Simmons speak when she fells ready. She doesn't need to wait long. 

"Is everything alright with Skye?"

She asks after a few minutes, her attention turning towards Melinda. 

"Considering everything that happened, she is alright. But seeing as you are the one that has been checking up on her health, you should know that."

Melinda points out, and she can see a weak smile growing.

"No, well, yes. That way she is alright, but... there is something else going on. Ever since Ward and Fitz mission, something has been off, and I don't know what is going on. And it's no use talking to the boys, they don't see it. You on the other hand, you and Skye have a close bond, more so than a SO and their rookie, so I guess you have seen it, you know that something has changed."

Simmons says and it's probably the most words Melinda has heard Simmons speak to her. She's not surprised over the things she's saying. Simmons had been the one to realise that Skye is afraid of Fitz and Ward when she first joined them, something she and Coulson should have seen. So having Simmons realising that something has change this time around isn't a surprised, the fact that she is coming clean about it all now is the surprise. 

"What have you seen that is different?"

Melinda asks, deciding that it's probably for the best if she asks exactly what Simmons has seen, so she won't tell the other woman something she shouldn't know. How Simmons looks away, Melinda wonders if the other girl really want to say what she is thinking about, but a deep breath, Simmons lifts her head, a new type of determination in her eyes.

"Throughout the time she has been with us, Skye has grown more comfortable with everyone. I love to see the friendship between Skye and Fitz, I can leave the room and know she won't run away from him. She has started to tolerate Ward; she can be in the same room as him if I'm there. Sure, she still keeps close to me if he's there, but she isn't as tense anymore."

Simmons starts to explain, and Melinda nods her head. She has seen this herself, happy to see that Skye is making some friends at least. 

"Then she started to close most of us out after we got Fitz and Ward back. She is spending more time with you and when ever Coulson is around and you aren't, she leaves the room. This is what makes me wonder what has happened, since Coulson was the only one of the boys she trusted and could be around when she first joined. I know since I was the one that pointed it out to you and him."

Simmons finish explaining, which makes Melinda take in a deep breath, she should have known that Simmons would pick up on the change. Looking at the younger agent, Melinda wonders if she should inform her about what is going on or not. She feels like this is a conversation she should have with Skye before she tells Simmons anything else.
