A seventeen year senior boy is clearing out his locker and puts his backpack over his shoulder. He feels a kiss on his cheek as he sees his girlfriend Beth as he smiles somewhat.

"Hi Ollie." Beth says with her brunette hair while Oliver has blonde hair.

"Hey love, you ready to go?" Oliver asks earning a nod from Beth.

The two exit the school holding hands as they're walking the way to their respected homes.

"Hard to believe this is our last year of highschool, then onto college... For me anyway." Beth states.

"Yeah..." Oliver replies as he can see Beth wanting to ask him something. "Beth I don't have the money necessary to go to college, and my dad's never gonna agree with me taking out a student loan... He'd sooner beat me than do that." He says shaking his head in annoyance.

Beth stands before him while holding his hands.

"Then don't live with him, you can bunk over with my parents... They love you like a son." Beth replies.

"And I appreciate that but I'm still seventeen Beth, so my father still holds custody over me... I can't just up and leave." Oliver explains painfully as he wants nothing than to get out of his terrible situation.

Beth sighs lightly but they continue walking the streets till they come across Beth's home as they see her father out in the yard.

"Ah hey you two, how was school?" He asks.

"Good Mr Kelly." Oliver says as Beth shakes her head at this as her boyfriend does that on purpose.

"Lad you know you can call me father, Beth your mother needs help getting stuff out of the basement... Don't worry I won't harm your boyfriend." He says teasingly.

Beth heads inside leaving the guys in private.

"How've you been lad?" He asks.

"I've been better." Oliver admits as Beth's father can tell the young man is troubled.

"He beat you again didn't he?" He asks.

Oliver is silent not comfortable discussing this with another adult as it always causes issues.

"Alright you know what? You're staying over for the weekend, I don't give a shite what Andrew says." He states firmly, Oliver wants to deny this but Beth's father touches his shoulder. "Please lad, you deserve better than that drunk."

Oliver sighs but in relief as he wished his father and late mother were this loving. Oliver walks inside seeing Beth and her mother as they notice him.

"He got you to stay over didn't he lad?" The mother asks smiling a bit.

Oliver nods setting his backpack down as he sits in the dining room and feels Beth stroke his hair.

"I wasn't expecting this but I'm not complaining." Beth says resting her chin on Oliver's shoulder.

Oliver gently grasps his girlfriend's hand kissing.

"Same here, so what's on the menu today Mrs Kelly?" Oliver asks curiously.

"Luckily for you it's my best, corned beef and cabbage." She says as Oliver feels hungry after hearing this.

Oliver feels Beth rubbing her cheek against his as he smiles from this.

"But Ollie, what are you gonna do after high school?" Beth asks sitting on his lap.

Oliver sighs as that has been a pain to figure out, especially with how soon he'll have to figure that out.
