Kabanata 1: Assassin

[Zin's POV]

"Callon Zabamore, Theoden Yelson, Vyne Monsterwight, Zin Areston, Lindir Bonwebb, Khort Dowwer, Rud Yilfate, and Esthis Rapidyew. Our new official Cadets and members of Platoon S-108. We officially welcome you to Anti-Elvesmiths Army!"

Matuwid akong nakatayo habang suot ang formal attire ko. Ngayong araw na ako makakatanggap ng pinakauna kong pin. Sa wakas, isa na akong suldado.

Malapad akong ngumiti habang nakatingin sa mga taong nagpapalakpakan sa aming harapan lalo na yung mga opisyales ng AEA.

"You will all be guided to your dorm house accordingly. All of you are given thirty minutes to prepare and after that, you will take a tour around the AEA camp base." Malapad kaming ngumiti bago sumaludo kay Sergeant Francine Lowhill.

"Platoon S-108!"

"Sir! Yes, Sir!" Agad naming binigyan ng saludo si Corporal Lacson Amphrite pagkalabas ng gathering hall.

"Congratulations, Cadets of Platoon S-108!"

"Thank you, Sir!"

Si Corporal Amphrite ang aming Platoon Leader at sa kanya kami kukuha ng mga kautusan maliban sa mas mataas na mga opisyales.

Kinuha muna namin ang aming mga gamit bago kami sumunod kay Corporal Amphrite patungo sa dorm house namin.

S-108

Bumukas ang isang automatic na pinto at pagpasok namin ay agad na bumungad sa amin ang magarang na salas. Ang sahig ay gawa sa matibay na kahoy at may mga sofa rin na sa tingin ko ay sobrang lambot. Parang isang normal lang na bahay at hindi mo aakalain na nasa loob ito ng military base.

"I'll come back after 30 minutes. Enjoy checking out your dorm." Ngumiti sa amin si Corporal Amphrite bago lumabas at hinayaan kami.

"Thank goodness we survived the training and here we are, official members of the AEA." Panimula ko para makapagsimula ng topic at para maging komportable rin sa akin ang mga kasama ko.

"I wonder what our first mission would be. I can't wait to cut the heads of those Elvesmiths," ngising sambit ni Rud habang nakapandekwatro sa aking harapan.

– Has a different hunger for war and has a great stamina.

Each one of us has a room and I thank God for it. I'm happy that there's no room mate that would be disturbed when I snore at night.

Nakalinya kami habang nakasunod kay Corporal Amphrite. Nabisita na namin ang laboratory, training hall, wardrobe, weaponry, garden, spa, at prison. Kailangan na lang naming pumunta ng Representative's Building kung saan naka-assign ang mga opisina ng bawat opisyales.

Hindi ko mapigilang kabahan nung makapasok na kami ng building. Una naming nakaharap si Sergeant Francine Lowhill na nakausap din namin kanina. Nakipagkamay kami kina Colonel Aster Pantheon at kay Lieutenant Jamie Everest.

"This is a dream come true for me. I'd finally got to meet my heroes!" Tili ni Esthis nung makasakay na kami ng elevator kaya hindi ko maiwasang mapangisi sa cute niyang reaksyon.

"I hope we can see the Head Commander," nahihiyang sabi ni Callon habang nakayuko.

"I'm afraid, you can't meet the Head Commander. He's on the other boarders to monitor."

Bumukas ang elevator at parang nanlamig ako nung makita sina Major Arthur Roosevelt at General Ruins McCurry. Napatayo sila nung maramdaman nila ang aming presensya.

"Congratulations, Cadets. Nice to see you all up close." Nakipagkamayan kami sa kanila at nung magtama ang mga mata namin ni General McCurry ay natigilan siya.

"Cadet Areston, it's good to see that you're already in your formal attire. You've caught my attention in the training since you have a unique weapon. Can't wait to see you in action."

"It's my honor, General. I am pleased to hear your compliments. I won't disappoint you, Sir." I genuinely smiled at him and he looked so contented with my response.

"Are we going back to the dorm now?" Naiinip na tanong ni Khort nung makalabas na kami ng Representative's Building.

"Nope, we still need to meet all the higher officers."

"But you said that the Head Commander is still on a trip."

Lahat kami ay naguluhan nung sinabi ni Corporal Amphrite na makikipagkita kami sa mga opisyales. As far as I can remember there are only five high officials; Sergeant, Colonel, Lieutenant, Major, and General.

We obviously met them just few seconds ago. I badly want to lay on my bed and wake up early tomorrow for training preparations.

"We still haven't met the Assassins."

The... what? Assassins? There are assassins in the army? I've been studying about the AEA for almost my entire life and I never read any about assassins.

"Do you know what he means?" Bulong ko kay Callon pero tipid lang siyang tumango. Napagtanto ko rin na lahat sila ay nagsitikom ang mga labi at bakas ang kaba sa kanilang mga mukha... uri ng kaba na hindi ko nakita kanina nung kaharap nila ang General.

Ako lang ba ang walang alam?

Pumasok kami sa isang madilim na tore. Kinuha muna ni Corporal Amphrite ang isang sulo bago kami umakyat sa isang mahaba at papilipit na hagdan. Halos umabot ng dalawang minuto ang pag-akyat namin at parang mawawalan ako ng hininga nung makakita ng dalawang anyo. Isang babae at isang lalaki na nakasuot ng uniporme para sa mga assassins.

"Meet D-Class Assassin Katana Render and A-Class Assassin Archer Render. They are twins as all of you can see."

Nakipagkamay kami sa kanila at mukhang friendly naman. Parehos na blonde ang kanilang mga buhok at halos magkaparehos din nga sila ng mukha. Hindi ko lang maintindihan kung bakit kinakabahan ang mga kasama ko.

"And everyone, I would like you to meet someone important to the AEA. She's the core and hope of humanity's salvation. First Class Assassin Elene Cofflin."

Napalunok ako nung may biglang tumayo sa pinakadulo. Unti-unti niyang hinubad ang kanyang hoodie at yung mga kasamahan ko ay napaatras nung makita na siya namin.

First Class Assassin Elene Cofflin, the assassin whose eyes are cold and dead. Her mere presence brought disturbance to me... to us.

She's small and looks perfectly human but something unknown inside her can make anyone feel anxious and terrified.
