Maudie POV  (Free period)

I like Ezra,

A true fact.

He likes me back,

A 50/50 possibility.

All the mixed signals he's been giving me, (According to Ava)

has been happening for weeks.

Love can be a game.

For example, confession is a gamble.

There's a 50/50 chance on whether they like share the same feelings.

"Hi Maudie."

I turned around and saw Ezra.

Clutching our Taiga biome diorama tightly.

"Let's finish up this project by today." Ezra said with his deep manly voice.

It's been a year and I'm still not used to his low voice.

"Sure. How the does 4.30 at the office sound?" I asked.

"Great." Ezra smiled. "I'll bring the animals."

"I'll bring the glue." I smiled back.

Today is a good day.

It will be an even better day later.

Suddenly, Ezra's eyes widened, and he lost grip of our diorama.

Before it could reach to the floor, I squatted down and caught it quickly.

I stood up straight and looked at Ezra.

He was looking down and his face was all red.

"You nearly dropped our diorama, what happened?" I asked.

"Nothing." Ezra muttered. "I'll see you after school in the office."

He quickly walked off without saying anything else.

I wonder what he saw to get him to act that way.

I looked at the direction Ezra was looking at earlier.

All I could see was Ava and her friends.

Looks like I have to do some further InBESTigating..

I have a hypothesis,

but I need to be sure.

Short Ezra POV

I quickly walked away, leaving Maudie alone in the hallway with our diorama.

I feel a little bit guilty for doing that, but I can't look at her with a straight face anymore.

Curse the stupid effects of human puberty.

Maybe it's the fact that she's pretty, smart and effortlessly cool.

She can be a bit too much at times, but I don't really mind that.

Ava seems so perfect for some reason.

I hate and like this stupid feeling.

I quickly walked into my history class, trying to ease myself down by taking multiple deep breaths.
