When Nysa finally made it through baggage claim, trying not to swear at the little children who kept running into her, she certainly wasn't expecting her supposedly ailing grandmother to pull up to the Seattle Airport in an egg blue CJ5 Jeep.

"Nani! You're...driving? This awesome jeep?" Nysa couldn't help but laugh as she left her suitcase a few meters away and engulfed her grandmother into a soft hug.

She hadn't seen her in years, she missed the small woman who was now in her arms. They used to come every summer, Nysa felt she had a secret life out here that nobody else knew about. She used to go the weekly kid's club that the local church ran, they used to visit the diner for dessert since they all had a sweet tooth, her Nani would take her on walks through the forest and Nysa even had a Forks best friend, Bella Swan, she wondered how she was doing.

Her Nani was one of her favourite people ever. There wasn't a summer that went by that she didn't go back a little chubbier, a little taller, and with a wider smile on her face. It was the way she spoke to Nysa, like she was important, as if she had amazing things coming her way, like she was special.

"I had to get here somehow, no?" Nani said gruffly, slapping her cheek lightly. "Get your bag and let's go."

Nysa hurried back a few paces and pushed her suitcase and heavy backpack into the backseat. She couldn't help but let out a low whistle at the jeep, knowing that her Nani would definitely let her borrow it.

"Now, move over because I'm not letting you drive the whole way back," Nysa argued, holding her Nani's shoulders and veering her over to the passengers side. "Still can't believe this, Nani!"

"Come on, was I going to let my granddaughter hail a cab?" Nani said, squatting Nysa's hand away as she opened the door for her, only making Nysa laugh fondly, oh how much she missed her. "I mean maybe, look at you in this leather jacket and those rough, biking boots."

"Nani!" Nysa exclaimed, pausing in her motion of getting in the car herself, utterly shocked at the words that came out of her grandmothers mouth.

"Only joking , meri jaan (daring)," Nani shushed, ushering Nysa to get into the car and she did, buckling up and starting the jeep.

"It's okay, you can hate it, Nani. Dad does."

"No, I used to dress like this when I was younger. You should see the pictures," said Nani waving Nysa off who could only scoff in amazement as she tried to concentrate in getting out onto the highway.

"Mum has kept these hidden," Nysa shook her head as her Nani barely responded to her shock.

Nani pulled open the glove compartment and pulled out an old CD. She pushed it into the player and the Bollywood mix started, full of old Hindi songs that Nysa grew up listening to. Nysa and her grandmother hummed along as soon as the first track played.

"Now, all I wear are these," Nani said, pointing to her Indian day wear.

"It's comfortable. And you look so cute," Nysa cooed, pinching her Nani's cheek with her left hand which caused Nani to scold her, telling her to keep her hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
