TW: This chapter contains kidnapping and drugging.
It was a long, hard day of training for class 1-A, and all the students were sore and exhausted after today's lesson. Izuku Midoriya found himself walking with Tenya Iida and Ochako Uraraka on their way back to the dorms.
The three discussed how they were improving their quirks and coming up with new ultimate moves to use in battle. Izuku found himself sucked into the conversation, listening intently as his friends explained their new moves, taking mental notes in detail, and committing to memory what he would later-on write in the hero analysis notebook designated for his classmates.
Izuku added short comments about how he was coming up with a new move called Full Cowling: Shoot Style, but Iida and Uraraka noticed the young hero wasn't behaving normally. Usually Izuku would mutter on and on about the specific details of whatever he was talking about, but today his comments were short and unspecific. His friends thought this was strange but didn't comment on it.
Iida suddenly interrupted Izuku's thoughts, "Here we are back at the dorms," announcing their arrival.
Izuku was so lost in thought that he was startled by their proximity to their new home built by UA.
It's a beautiful day, Izuku thought.
He noticed the sky was painted orange and pink. A slight breeze could be felt and heard as the trees danced to the music of the night.
As Izuku entered the dorm, Bakugo was instantly in his path, "I need to talk to you," he growled.
The rest of class 1-A, some students lounging on the couches and others eating in the dining area, looked up in surprise and worry at Bakugo's announcement to Midoriya, especially Todoroki. He didn't know whether it was a good or bad thing that Bakugo needed to talk to Izuku so urgently, but he would be worried regardless. The boy had helped him so much in realizing what kind of hero he wanted to be and how he needed to face and overcome his past to be the best he could be. Shoto wanted to protect the boy no matter what.
Bakugo pulled his former friend to a side hall and spoke quieter than usual but was still fierce with his words.
"You better be working on One for All as much as you can because the next time we battle, I won't win against someone who isn't performing at their best," he threatened in a low voice.
Izuku nodded in agreement, "Kachaan, the next time we face each other, you won't be winning at all. I'll make sure of that."
"Good," Bakugo growled and stormed out of the hall, making his way to his room and slamming the door once inside.
You better. Bakugo thought to himself.
As dinner was finished and the time grew later, students from class 1-A began to yawn, some even nodding off while watching TV as a result of the intense quirk training during the afternoon. Students slowly started to head towards their rooms to rest for the upcoming day. Izuku called out a 'goodnight' to the classmates who remained in the common area and walked to his room. About half an hour later, as soon as Izuku saw the hall light go dark under the crack in his door, announcing everyone had returned to their rooms, he opened his door and snuck outside the dorm, hoping to avoid any explanations with his classmates about his nighttime routine.
Izuku opened the front door to the dorm, heading toward the open space he found away from the building, where he could keep training by himself. He looked around hesitantly, his guard had been up more since the most current attack on the school during the summer camp. Izuku recalled when the League of Villains interrupted the camp and attacked the students, a few had been injured, and the League tried to take Bakugo. Still, Izuku prevented their kidnapping plans at the last second.
Midoriya worked on his new ultimate move, Full Cowling: Shoot Style. He made little progress and was frustrated with his slow development. When Izuku was with his classmates, he always had a bright and cheerful attitude about his training and his goal of becoming the number one hero but when he was by himself, negative thoughts of self-doubt seeped into his brain, and he wondered if he could ever truly become the top hero.
"God dammit, why can't I just get this move down!" Izuku shouted into the darkness.
As soon as he screamed his frustration into the night, he heard a rustling in the woods to his left. Izuku froze as the possibility of a villain popping out to harm him clouded his brain. He stood on guard in a defensive position as the rustling grew closer. He sighed a breath of relief when a rabbit jumped out of the bush to his left.
"Hi buddy," Izuku knelt and spoke softly to the rabbit. "Don't you know it's not safe for you to be out at night?"
"Maybe the student should learn to take his own advice," a deep, sudden voice, who Izuku identified as Kurogiri, was heard in the distance as a smoky, purple and black portal appeared.
Izuku jumped back and prepared himself to fight as he brought his hands up in an defensive position, ready to shoot One for All at the villain.
"Uh uh uh, I wouldn't do that if I were you," Tomura Shigaraki spoke to the frightened boy as he stepped through the portal.
Suddenly Izuku felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck as Himiko Toga appeared behind him and impaled him with something he couldn't see. Izuku quickly whipped around to face the girl but noticed his movements felt off.
When did Toga get here?
The boy fell to the ground suddenly. Unable to use his quirk anymore, Izuku found himself hopeless, wondering if anyone would come to save him. Shigaraki slowly crept towards the boy, a look of pride on his face as he saw the terror in the boy's eyes.
"Now be a good little hero and close your eyes," Shigaraki's scratchy voice rang out in the night.
Izuku felt his eyes droop as he realized he had been drugged with some sort of quirk-canceling drug. He tried to cry out, knowing the situation he was in, but no one heard the boy's struggling cries for help as his brain became fuzzy. His movements felt restrained as if he was trapped in quicksand.
Shigaraki grew ever closer as Izuku's heart pounded mercilessly, and his eyes slowly closed. The last thing Izuku heard was a slight conversation between Shigaraki and Kurogiri.
"We're finally ready to destroy All Might," Shigaraki's scratchy voice spoke.
"Everything is set. Finding out his successor and his prized student has been taken will destroy All Might on the inside, and he will destroy the rest of All Might," Kurogiri explained, pointing at the trembling boy who lay on the cold, hard ground.
