A Second Chance

Prologue

Sapphire walked home with her sister, Ruby, both laughing smiles on their faces. "I'm gonna make a small stop at the park"Sapphire says. She waved to her twin sister, and hurried away, her locket gently thumping against her chest. A chirp made her stop, spotting a black fox with two tails laying wounded on the ground. She hurried over, picking the small critter up. "Poor thing, here let me take you home"Sapphire says. She stopped at the park, grabbing a few herbs around the area before heading home, carrying the injured fox home. "Where'd he go, I swear he fell here!" "How do you loose him?!" "We finally defeated Tsubaki And now he's gone! He'll recover and come for us." "Oh boy, another fight with that monster...I would rather not but looks like we're gonna have to."

Sapphire stared at Mahiru with the other people, looking curious. She returned home, taking her shoes off and leaving them by the front door, a smile on her face. She set the fox down, and grabbed the first aid kits tending to the fox and bandaging its sounds. "Whoever did this is a monster...hurting an innocent animal"Sapphire frowned. She smiled, her eyes twinkling. "You can stay here with me, I'll name you Kyro"Sapphire smiled. She pressed a kiss to his snout, the fox stiffening. She kissed his forehead, beaming as she giggled. She yawned and carried Kyro with her to her room, where she changed into her pajamas. She gently patted Kyro's head, before going to sleep. Kyro nuzzled her, staring silently before leaping down, walking out into the living room curiously.

He turned humanoid, Tsubaki looking around the house silently. He touched the bandages then his nose before touching his forehead. "Is this what it's like to have a master and feel close to them..."Tsubaki questioned. "But she's not my Eve, I'm a free vampire, I don't need an Eve"Tsubaki says. A gasp came from behind him, making him whirl around, his eyes wide. Sapphire stared at him, holding a cup of water. She dropped it, causing the cup to shatter. "DON'T MOVE!"Tsubaki ordered. He kneeled down, picking Sapphire up, moving her away from the broken glass. He picked the glass up, carefully holding it in his hand. "Are you my fox..."Sapphire says stunned. Tsubaki stayed quiet, throwing the glass shards away. "Yes..I'm Kyro..."Tsubaki says getting ready for her to throw him out.

"I've only known you for an hour and it feels as if you're protective of me already"Sapphire smiled. Tsubaki stared at her, looking curious by what she meant. "Kyro....no matter what, you'll be my friend"Sapphire smiled. She gasped a red glow coming from her pinkie, another glow coming from Tsubaki's neck. Tsubaki grinned, looking pleased. "What happened?"Sapphire asked. "You just made a contract with me"Tsubaki explained. "You're my Master also known as an Eve, I'm your Servamp, mixture of servant and vampire"Tsubaki explained. "If you don't want the contract wait 24 hours then it'll break and I'll take my leave"Tsubaki adds on looking down. "I have to drink your blood to make it official"Tsubaki says. Sapphire blinked, looking surprised, then held her arm out to Tsubaki silently.

"Wh-What are you doing?"Tsubaki asked stunned. "You said you have to drink my blood to make it official... and I already named you so..."Sapphire says. "I can't tell if you're stupid or if you're naturally sweet"Tsubaki frowned. Sapphire smiled, giggling a bit. Tsubaki bit down on her wrist, sucking some of her blood, completing the contract. He licked his lips, staring at her. "I hope you know what you've done?"Tsubaki asked. "Invite you into my life without any conditions"Sapphire smiled. He frowned at her, looking unbelieving. "Alright well one condition, I don't want you to hurt anybody"Sapphire smiled. "I can do that..."Tsubaki says. He shifted into his fox form, landing in Sapphires arms cuddling her.

"Sapphire I'm home!"Ruby called taking her shoes off, setting them by the front door beside Sapphires. She frowned, looking around wondering if her twin had came home. Sapphire always greeted her when she returned home, having dinner or a snack ready, it was unlike her to be so quiet. Ruby hurried through the house, searching for her sister, her eyes wide. She passed the living room, then stopped and moved back. Sapphire slept on the couch, a fox laying underneath the blanket with her. "Oh Sap"Ruby smiled walking over. She fixed the blanket on Sapphire, then found the fox staring her down, making an uneasy feeling go through her. She gently pat the fox on the head, earning a growl from it before it went back to sleep. "Wow....such a weird critter." Kyro grinned, wanting to scare the life out of her but decided not to. Wanting to keep his promise to Sapphire.
