Fish/pan scout is a meme but fan scout is part of the meta, this subclass is melee focused, and unlike force of nature/shove scout or bleed scout this doesn't fully hinder your team, if you don't count getting killed by bots, every time you run in, and go for money hindering.
Force of nature/shove scout, is a purely environmental kill loadout, with the knock back and few places where you can kill, all of which the bots mostly avoid, coal town has such a thing near spawn mid, rottenburg is on the lower path to the right after passing through the tunnel in the wall, you would have to go the same way, as the bots or go straight, from the space your trying to stop them reaching, to pass it without the bots.
Bleed scout, is a loadout that uses the bleed D.O.T effect, which is incredibly powerful, in normal gameplay, but in MVM your staring down bots, with health pools bigger than a heavy in x10 mode with the second banana. or a kunai spy in the same game mode, in those bleed damage is also multiplied to even it out, but in MVM bleed damage doesn't get the job done, as well as three heavies, a sentry and a sniper when singular, even gas pyro is better.
Bonk scout is a haphazard play style, of drink bonk run in, get a kill, run out as it wears off, if you could decrease cool-down, and increase durations, it would be much more powerful, but due to the situation with one bonk, makes scout invincible, but slows him after and the other grants crits, but has its downfalls makes this scout, actively not that great as meta MVM scout.
Trollder, this one meme doesn't work, in normal gameplay, trollder is a menacing presence, to those who can't look up, or don't know how to fight him, but in MVM he goes from a menacing presence, to a downright joke at your teams hard work, soldier is a late wave slayer, but trollder makes MVM teams struggle, to the point where even going gas pyro and dying. for half the wave on chock point heavy maps, at least you'll deal with a handful of bots, and be able to air blast medics away, and stop uber not pushes.
Shotgun solider/military scout, is one alternate play style of soldier, that replaces your support item with a shotgun, for more survivability and slightly more damage, from the soldier, at the cost of your heavies and snipers losing buffs, that help shred tanks and take out bots faster.
Paratrooper soldiers are so rare in MVM, that you won't be able, to fully make use of any tutorials, since there are none for MvM, very few actively play this style, and even then it's on late waves because of money.
Gas pyro has variations, based on the primary and melee, from phlog gas fragment to the dragons fury and home wrecker with gas, but other than that this fart joke, pyro is generally seen as downright banable with tacobot.tf, people wanting to ban this, and even wanting to ban anyone who supports it.
Plog pyro is actually in the meta for tank waves, to melt the tank, and so the team doesn't have to focus, all their firepower on the tank, because pyro has it under control.
Pybro isn't a common occurrence in MVM, only just being more common, than pyro shark in MvM, this rare to see subclass in MvM, is a godsend for all engineers, in none rank waves and is a blessing, when dealing with spy bots, never underestimate the pybro's potential in support to engineers, so if you see one and you can, be sure to thank them, a little gratitude goes a long way in tf2.
Now heavy has many subclasses, Natasha heavies are self hindering along with knock back rage heavies, huo-long heater heavies burn through their ammo even if you don't upgrade firing speed, holiday punch/tomislav heavies have their gimmicks nullified by the bots being unable to laugh taunt and be aware of silent killer/silent startup weapons, the iron curtain is pretty much stock and the brass beast is a slower but more potent stock, fat Scout is a good meme for casual but not always in MVM, so on.
Engineer has the battle engineer, the turtle and the ninjaneer, battle engi is a kick vote situation and in a way worse than having a level 2 sitting in the wings ready for the pyro bots, the turtle will result in deaths, but it will also allow the engineer to fight back against bots with an even playing field, and ninjaneer is pretty much unheard of in MVM, with 2 way teleporters and other useful things, engineer is relocated to support and assist only.
Demoman has crit stickies, which makes the sticky spam under kritscrig or crit canteen broken enough to need two-three crit stickies and 11-12 normal stickies or 8-9 crit stickies to decimate tanks (if tanks were affected by the maximum damage, instead of a bs resistance showing up), but sadly demo has got bad to go with the overwhelming good, the demo knight subclass with subclasses in each, this subclass puts you so close to the enemy bots, that your resistances are useless, capture rates don't apply so no pain train, the only demoknight subclass, to get a free pass is cannon/hybrid demoknight, due to they have a ranged option.
Medic isn't a common sight so his subclasses are rarer, than the random encounters with him, but battle medic isn't a common thing, other than when the engineer, glitches out the sentry buster for free Ubers, via Uber saw, when it comes to mediguns, people swear by the kritscrig, and swear off other mediguns.
alternatively the vaccinator, is a underestimate under appreciate option, four Ubers which instant revive allies, and grant such a debuff, to damage taken that sniper bots headshotting you, does so little it's funny, the only weapons to counter this are huntsman, pompson and short circuit, one your pre warned about, and the other two practically never shows up, spy bots are the only downside, to not equipping the normal mediguns, with it's invincibility buff, since melee damage, bypasses the vaccinators Ubers.
Spy has several subclasses per say, eternal reward/wanga prick, gun spy, kunai spy and spy crab, let's knock these down one at a time, the eternal reward and weapons of similar trades, only are good at picking off the bots, at the back of the line, which doesn't often help your team.
gun spy is a ok range choice, but does nothing to actively help the team, kunai spy grants health for backstabs, and overheal but makes you squishy, and easier to kill, finally spy crab is a meme, in casual and the community servers, it'll do nothing but get you killed, more than a gas pyro, at least gas pyro has a way to fight back, without going off their meme.
Finally sniper has got the huntsman, or fortified compound, both are bows so they do melee damage, bypassing fist of steel heavies, but this subclass isn't as great as normal sniper, with explosive headshots being a go to, for taking out large clusters, of bots and snipers like the bazaar bargain, being so useful, it's uncommon to find an archer sniper.
