When you pick engineer, the main priority in the eyes of the 'meta' is only dispenser range, since people rely on it for ammo and healing, other than that, the 'meta' disregards the engineers health.

Your sentry is second to your dispenser, and your teleporters are for the slow moving classes, building the exit on buildings actually helps out more than anyone realises, since snipers don't have to loop back around.

Most 'meta' engineers use the rescue ranger, but it's your call in the end of things, I run a frontier justice, stock pistol and wrench for mvm, mainly because you can do more, and if you do lots more then you'll need more metal, and that's where metal capacity kicks in, I've also tried battle engineer with two sentries and that was a waste of what I earned, to put it simply, dispenser range, building health and something to keep you alive would be the optimal, with three build canteens, though I run ammo canteens because it's easier, also if you get swing speed on melee, it will upgrade faster than average.

The 'meta' asks for a single engineer, but you could have as many as you want, just make sure the sentry can target and be targeted, when playing on Rottenburg, I placed my sentry between the two rocks from cliff face to upgrade shop with only a set of stairs and tanks spawning on the left hand side of you, and I ended up with maxed out revenge crits on my frontier justice, which I died before using all of them.
