Faintly Lingering

15 2 2

I can almost hear the message, shining through your eyes
And feel a strong intention, pumping undisguised

I see it, I think, it's written on your face
So I hug you tightly, our moment, our space

All else seems to fade as I bury in your arms
Feelings rarely had, they bubble to the surface

To miss a place so dearly, though I know that I'll be back—
Leaving home to return to another, not new— just a little hard to unpack

I'll soon be saying "I miss you", unable to hold your hand
I'll hear your laugh through audio, familiar scent just faintly lingering
Unable to feel your warmth, or touch your skin

It's evident, I see you're thinking the same
But we both know, that neither is to blame

Right now I hold you tight
We have this moment, this zen
I'm going to savor it, and enjoy you

Until the moment comes when we must be apart—
Just know this, dear:
Forever in my heart... 💕 😌
