Chapter 7: Proving Worth

Luke at the moment is in the RnD lab working on his gadget which is going along more nicely than he expected since he never had access to a wide assortment of resources, he always had to make do with what he had available.

Luke: "I must admit, working in a lab with actual resources is... Well relaxing I guess." He directs to Mira who gives a slight smile.

Mira: "Well we are very well funded though I'm not gonna ask how well as that's none of my business. But I hope you understand that the explosion isn't gonna be that impactful given this is supposed to be a small package."

Luke: "I'm aware, it'll do nicely against tires of vehicles or soft surfaces and that's good enough for me." He replies holding an an early prototype and notices a name on it. "ELPD MK 1?" He asks wanting an explanation.

Mira: "Explosive Launchable Projectile Device, it just makes things more easier to remember for me." As Luke understands when he hears his name to report to training area. "You can go, I got it from here."

Luke takes his leave to find some of the ops there but also sees Zero or Sam Fisher there.

Zero: "Razaro you're here, good I wanna see your skills in hand to hand situations." He states as Luke reluctantly agrees to this removing his jacket and asks who he'll be facing. "You'll be facing some of our better hand to hand specialists, Kapkan will be testing how you'll handle someone that has a knife."

Luke acknowledges this with Kapkan approaching him who gives the Russian a nod of respect which he returns. The two circle each other with Luke keeping his eyes on Kapkan's body language looking for the slightest shift.

Kapkan makes the first move thrusting and slashing his knife which Luke nimbly avoids continuing to circle Kapkan waiting for an opening. Kapkan sends a couple quick thrusts with the blade but Luke grabs onto his wrist and elbows him in the face and wrestles the blade out of his hands.

Kapkan feels Luke holding the blade against his neck having control of the situation. Kapkan glances at Zero who seems impressed with this and motions Kapkan to go as he takes his knife back.

Zero: "Okay... let's see how you handle hand to hand, Taina." He says as Taina walks over and notices how young Luke looks.

Taina: "Before we get started, how old are you?" She asks as Luke stares for a few seconds thinking this is a trick question.

Luke: "uh... Twenty seven... Why do you-" but is punched in the face by Taina suddenly. Luke gets his hands up blocking the incoming strikes from Taina realizing she was testing his focus.

Luke and Taina circle each other as Luke gets his focus back on track. Taina throws a few quick strikes that Luke blocks out Taina quickly kicks him in the back of the head stunning him momentarily.

This allows for Taina throw him over her shoulder and tries locking in an armbar. Luke recognizing this slips out and gets to his feet as Taina does the same.

Luke (mind): "She's fast and using to make openings, she's definitely an expert jiujitsu fighter." He notes to himself and circled Taina once again. "Close the distance and don't let her toss you."

Luke approaches dodging a punch and gets Taina in the clinch interlocking his hands together which are behind Taina's head. Luke sends out quick and stiff Muay Thai knee strikes as at least two hit their mark against Taina's chest.

Taina slips her hands around the back of Luke's legs tripping him up as she gets on top and locks in a tight arm triangle.

Zero: "Alright that's enough you two." He says as Taina releases the hold with Luke taking deep breaths.
