"Come ON Emily! I don't have all day." said Emily's older brother Roy. Emily had been invited to the unicorn picnic that happened "once every 5 years" as told by Emily, and Roy, who just finished his latest invention, a pedal and water powered car, was tasked to send her to her friend Amy's house. A six year old Emily wore a pink sparkly dress and glittery silver shoes as well as a plastic golden tiara while holding a unicorn plush she called Fluffy fixed her clip on earrings as she slid down the banister and landed on a pile of cushions. "Let's go to the bakery then! Have you got the lemonade? Fluffy does love the taste." she said. Roy held up a bag. "In here." he said, "Do unicorns even eat chocolate cake?".

Emily grinned as she hugged Fluffy. They went to the bakery and picked up an enormous chocolate cake. Roy then dropped Emily off at Amy's house and pedalled away. A seven year old Amy greeted Emily at the front door. "Come on, Kelly's already here!" she exclaimed.

Kelly was in Amy's bedroom wrapping up some cupcakes, biscuits and milk in a large tablecloth. Kelly said proudly, "My daddy took 1 year to find this milk!". Emily and Amy stared in awe. Amy suddenly said, "Wait, don't they sell this same milk like 2 blocks down the street?". Kelly turned pink, "Umm, never mind that. Come on, let's get into the tent.".

Amy added the finishing touches to the blanket fort they used so many times. Amy's mother then came in. "My, what are you three up to?" she asked. Kelly said, "We're going to have a unicorn picnic in Unicorn Land!" Amy's mother chuckled, "Well then, apple slices are in the kitchen if you girls want any." "Thank you Aunty." Emily and Kelly chorused as Amy's mother closed the door.

"Ready?" Emily said. The other two nodded. Kelly closed up the curtain and they placed their unicorn plushes in the centre of the blanket fort. Emily had Fluffy, Amy had Fuzzy, and Kelly had Cuddles. They then all held hands, and soon they transported to a magical pink field, where the sky was blue-green and the clouds were purple. Their unicorn plushes, now small size unicorns came galloping towards them.

The girls laughed as they rode their unicorns to a lovely blue park with blue trees that had golden leaves. Passing other unicorns who were also having their own picnics. They all sat down and rolled out the snacks. Other unicorns neighed in delight as some munched on Amy's sugar cubes, or licked their noses after trying Kelly's cupcakes. Fluffy jumped in the air after sipping Emily's lemonade.

They all had a marvellous time, and when all the food was gone and the unicorns went away, the three girls and unicorns formed a triangle, with each girl in front of their unicorn. They held hands and danced in a circle as they were transported back to the blanket fort laughing.

Amy's mother then knocked on the door before coming in with apple slices. After their snack, they watched an episode of Unicorn Land on Amy's TV, before Amy's mother told Emily and Kelly that their parent or sibling had come to pick them up. After saying their goodbyes, Kelly got into her mother's car, and Emily hopped onto her older sister Ella's motorcycle, after Ella claimed that Roy's pedal car had fallen apart on the way.

Upon reaching home, Emily giggled as she watched Roy attempt to fix his pedal car with cello tape. Ella said, "Hey maybe if you use a bit more you can make a cello tape car." "Very funny. So how was the 'unicorn picnic' Emily?" asked Roy. Emily giggled, "It was fun!".
